Regarding this thread about house color ... MYTHICAL or PLUMMY??

I love the Mythical, but I think either would look purty.

The only thing I don''t like about it is the actual name--for whatever reason, every time I hear the word "mythical" it sounds like someone with a speech impediment trying to say "mystical." Same thing goes for the name "Alethea." I think I''m the one with the impediment.

Anyway . . . gooooOOOOOO MYTHICAL!

I like mythical. It has a bit a a grayness in it that makes it look warm and nice. I think that grayness would keep the purple from being overwhelming.

I agree. Assuming i''m looking at those paint samples right I like that mythical is just a little more subdued. I''m IN LOVE with like a purpley grey color paint so mythical is closer to my personal fav.

I think green, purple and orange are all doable... even together, but you have to be pretty bold to make that statement.

one of the cool things that mythical has is that every side of her house will be a different color - warmer in the sunlight, deeper in the shade... subtle when it needs to be and outright bold at other times... it really will be magical to see, I''m sure.

seeing it on the house, DEFINITELY Mythical! Plummy is too primary for me on the house. i love the grayish tone to Mythical.

i''m not a fan of the green door but if it had some gray in it, i think it would go well with the house. i''d paint the house first then look at diff doors. still love a reddish mahogany door on a house like that...but it might be too CONSERATIVE.

Gotta agree with Mara; not loving the green door. Purple is a cool tone, and I think the door needs to go on a warm tone to contrast well.

I said in the last thread that I liked Plummy better, but after looking at the colors actually on your house, I think Mythical is a better choice.

While I think that purple is a great accent colour, but not one for almost the entire house, I voted mythical - it''s the least offensive to my eyes which tend to bleed when purple is spotted.

I have to say, though, that Deco''s house is so cute, any colour would probably be fine. Painted purple, it will add that rather broad hint of snark that our Deco shows us from time to time.

One question, though, how are purple houses for resale value?

We had a teacher like that in our jr. high! Her daughter was a classmate - poor kid - kept catching grief for her purple mother! Amazing how many purple outfits she had! LOL! No trauma here though, so I can look at amethysts!
