Wedding Decorate my ceremony =)

Below is a picture, 3 views, of my ceremony site. we are having trouble deciding what we want to do for decorating it

Our main issue is with the gazebo (i have attached a larger pic of it below).

We really hate the look of having just one spray of flowers at the top center. and getting a garland to go around it runs about $500.

One suggestion was two sprays at the top of the two middle pillars with ivy hanging down the pillars.

I guess FI and I are just not "spray" people.

Any suggestions?

One thing we were thinking were some kind of vine flower running up the two middle pillars. I have tried to find a pic of this to show florist but cant. someone who reccently got married in their parents home had something like this and i thought it was lovely but I cannot find her thread anymore.

Oh we were also thinking of putting up pomanders (balls of flowers) on the chairs and rose petals to adorn the aisle.

WOW! Your ceremony site is beautiful.

Are you planning a day or evening wedding? You can hang white fabric and tie it with flower bouquets or hang flower balls that match the ones you have plan for the chairs. If it''s an evening wedding, you can add candles. I have inspiration photos, but I still have to learn how to upload.

Our ceremony will be at 530pm, however it should still be pretty bright out.

I found a pic that shows the site with pomanders and also one big spray of flowers at the top. I like the flower balls but i just dont care for the one arrangement at the top.

hmmm looking at it again...it really doesnt look that bad. throw a few petals out...hmmm.

I was thinking of putting up organza but I just cant picture how it would fall.

Also, who would do that? my mom or someone from the wedding. we have a day of coordinator but i dont think she is going to be very useful, lol.

Our site required that we have one. we could get one through them or hire our own. we chose one through them but she doesnt seem like she is going to be all that helpful.

Maybe I am a lil confused about what the day of coordinator does exactly. We asked her about placing some things on the tables the day of and she was like "you will have to find someone to do that"...?

Yeah, the one spray isn''t big enough to make an impact. I think the flowery vines would be very pretty.

There are various Day of Coordinators. They typically help with the management of events on the day of your wedding.

Do they only have the one coordinator to choose from? Does the coordinator come with your package? If she''s extra, I would go find another one and to see if you can find one that is more helpful.

Gywn, I understand your concerns. My daughter is getting married in front of a wishing well and a lot of prior couples had a big ball of flowers hanging in the middle or a bunch of trailing flowers up the two side columns. One of the florist's we consulted gave us a great idea based on something my daughter had seen...which my daughter ended up nixing..that had some flowers hanging from the center in a really cool, how do I describe this...almost like a child's crib mobile...arrangement , if that makes any sense at all.

It was beautiful. Unfortunately, because of the way the well is constructed, with only two columns, it would have taken too much floral covering and work and wire to get the flowers to hang down, but you wouldn't have that challenge with your set up. they can be hanging at different heights from above. My daughter would love to have been able to pull it off at her site, but she didn't have that covering that you get to work with. I can try and find a picture if you want. Just an idea.

It's a beautiful ceremony location and you are going to have an amazing wedding!!

I would love to see a picture. I am embarassed to say, especially to my florist who has been an angel with me, that I have the worst visual abilities.

gwyn, it's a beautiful setting. what kind of feel are you looking for? what does your dress look like and what are your wedding colors? also if you could tell us if you have any particular theme and how much you'd like to spend on the decor for the gazebo.

Thanks. we are going for a simple/elegant look. We do not have a theme per say. For colors we are using a fall color pallete (we are getting married in Oct). I will attach my dress below (with me in it). The bridesmaids will be in dark chocolate brown dresses, the groom and his groomsmen in dark choc brown tuxes. I will posted bouquet next to my dress on the left. the bridesmaids will have either miniature versions of mine OR all mini callas in fall colors (mango, burnt orange, gold, deep red).

I would like to keep my ceremony flowers under $500 if possible. Not including bouquets and boutineers. I am talking just the gazebo and aisle. It is a pretty long aisle so rosepetals will run about $100.00 if i want them. Flower balls will run around $80 if I have them (FI doesnt love the idea of em).

sounds lovely and i love the fall colors! will the greenery around the ceremony and seating area still be green at that time of your wedding or will things be turning fall colors?

if it is still green, then i''d love to see sort of a fall leaves look -- i.e. give the feel that you are amongst trees where the leaves are turning colors. to have that look and the romantic look, i''d go for more free form arrangements and not go with the more structured ones like the flower balls.

I'm not really sure you need to have extra decorations on/around the gazebo area at all. First, it's a beautiful setting already with the trees all around, the decorative wall and fountain in back, plus the gazebo itself is pretty ornate in and of itself. So, in a sense it's already decorated enough naturally. Second, I know the the photos you posted the area in front of the gazebo looks a little bare, but remember during your wedding you and your bridal party (with all of their colorful flowers in the bouquets/boutonnieres) will be standing up there, so that will liven things up immensely! Do you have any photos from other weddings at your location that show the wedding in progress (with everyone standing up there)? If so, does the site still look like it needs more decoration?

Bottom line is with such a naturally beautiful site, I think "less is more" in terms of decorating it. I think the rose petals down the aisle would look nice and add some color, but other than that I think I'd just let the elegance of the site itself shine through!

i''m in california too!

didn''t have a chance to look for images today but will try this evening. but havernell is correct, you don''t need to do too much -- there is alot going on already (in a good way!).

do you know if your florist can put stuff on the gazebo dome itself? or is it too high up?

I think she can put stuff up there. she has access to ladders and such, so it is a possibility.

I would hang tulle from either the middle of the dome to drape a bit to the pillars and then down the pillars or around the pillars. Then I would add flowers from your color pallete at the tops and side of the pillars to bring it all together. How intricate is the wire stuff on the dome? If it''s not too bad you could even look into weaving fabric through the holes and sporadically adding flowers to the top. It would look so beautiful! Tulle is relatively inexpensive and would give you the look of fabric but still be transparent. For the aisle, I don''t know how it would affect your budget but maybe something like this in your colors. I think that is beautiful and higher flowers will give you a more visual aisle.
