Get ready to move forward 1 hour on March 12 for most of the US!! :appl:

I hate losing the hour of sleep, but the dog loves being back on "her" schedule.

Looking forward to Sunday. I love having an extra hour of sun in the evening!

Yes I agree! While I hate losing an hour of sleep the extra daylight is WORTH it. I wish we could just stay on DST forever and stop going back and forth already!

+1

As someone who grew up in that pocket of Indiana that NEVER observed DST, I hate it and it wreaks havoc on me. Pets and children do not observe it no matter what. :nono: We opted in about 10 years ago but I've never acclimated. It takes me a good 3 weeks to adapt every time the time changes. I am a huge whine baby pee pants (as our beloved Packie used to say) about it!

The CB loves to tell about how when his daughter was little she just could not wrap her head around how Time Changed. He found out after several years that she was thinking of it like time travel because that's the only thing that made sense to her when people would say you moved an hour ahead or an hour back.

I have such a hard time with this time change. I think I'm an oddball, but I wish we could stay in Standard Time. I already have a hard enough time waking up, and my body almost never adjusts to having to do it even earlier. I so envy all of you who love DST!!

rainydaze, I learned to look forward to it because of SAD (we both suffer from it, him more than me) and when we moved from Massachusetts to Florida, it really helped a lot. We got on average an40 minutes - 1 hour of extra daylight this past winter which is a huge plus from living in the NE. My SAD lamp is just a lamp anymore and being able to actually see daylight at 5pm for a good part of the winter is amazing. I look forward to DST mostly now for the dog, though more light at the end of the day is also welcome. It messes me up a little but I adjust pretty quick (about a week).

As far as I'm concerned, there is no reason not to have DST *all* year. Yes, I love that extra hour of daylight I'll be getting from this Sunday until November 5th. Why the hell can't I have it from November to March????

Re: Daylight Savings For most of the US - We gain an hour, Y

That's a good point Arcadian, I haven't thought of SAD and those that suffer from it. DH and I definitely notice a difference in ourselves as winter wears on, but I think it's along the lines of 'winter blues'. If it were worse, yeah, I can see how I'd look forward to DST and wish it would stick.

Thanks for sharing that perspective. I get grumpy about this time change, but maybe trying to look at it from...the bright side... will help balance that out more.

Me, too. I do need a couple days to adjust my system, but then I'm so happy for the extra hour of light during the evening.
