Dancing With the SMURFS

Oh my god I STILL cannot believe that OLYMPIC SMURF won! I kept waiting to see if anyone else would post about this but...... okay, does anyone else think Gilles was TOTALLY ROBBED here? And Melissa came in THIRD? Seriously?????? Gilles was BY FAR the best dancer from DAY ONE! With Melissa being a very close second. I was SO angry I had to put the remote down so I wouldn''t throw it at the TV. I couldn''t believe it when EVERY time Melissa would get up there and do an AMAZING job and all the judges would kind of go "well that was AWESOME but....." and then they''d nit-pick the teensy tiniest little thing about it (it''s like they expected her to be PERFECT). It made NO sense. And then Shawn got up there and GALLUMPED her way all around the stage and they just peed themselves with joy! What was THAT all about? Is it just about the fact that she''s an OLYMPIAN or what???????? That last dance she did in the green outfit on Monday, sorry but that SUCKED. No WAY you could compare that to Melissa''s (and Gilles performed flawlessly BOTH days as usual and LOST?) I loved the show but I will not be watching it again........

Hmmm. I guess you'll have to chalk it up to a difference of opinion. This is the first season that I watched the show. I thought Shawn Johnson made the most progress during the show, and I thought her later dances were beautiful and inspiring. I thought both Gilles' and Melissa's freestyle performances were kind of lame.

So, I'm glad Shawn won. Sorry.

Big ditto. Shawn REALLY became a dancer. Melissa was good, great in fact, but she has a ballet background--she SHOULD be good. For that stocky little gymnast to become graceful and elegant, she SHOULD be the winner.

btw-Gilles was absolutely amazing and I wouldn''t have been disappointed if he one either.

I wanted melissa to win, mostly b/c I love Tony and finally thought he got a partner good enough to pull it off. I agree that the free style was lame though and that did them in IMO.

Gilles is wonderful but I liked Shawn too and I was glad Shawn won since Melissa didn''t.

Besides, Melissa''s already a professional dancer (because let''s be honest, pro cheerleading is really dancing), so it wouldn''t be right if she won.

LOL! That made me laugh...... yes, wasn't too clear, was it?

Sorry everyone - was REALLY PMS-ey yesterday........ I just REALLY wanted Gilles to win.... it was very dissapointing...... I think Shawn won because everyone thought she was "cute"...... not for her dancing....... I think near the END some of her dancing got better but the "tricks" drove me insane. But to win it for the sake of 3 or 4 dances was a bit of a joke.

I wanted anyone but Giles to win. He just stood there and was a frame for Cheryl. A hot frame maybe. . . but still a frame. That free style sucked! That showcased Cheryl. I think the girls have the hardest role. Giles looked good thanks to Cheryl. Shawn and Melissa looked good because they were. Shawn''s freestyle was full of tricks but it ROCKED! Melissa''s was full of tricks and it sucked. It was horrible - no flow at all. And like I said Giles just kind of stood there letting Cheryl show off. I think it''s terribly rude to call Shawn a smurf. She''s such a nice girl.
