Wedding Cutting swatches from Bridal gown!?!?

So today I went to the bridal salon to pick up my shoes and had asked for a swatch of my dress so I could dye my shoes. I guess I was thinking they would cut a tiny piece from the seam allowance inside my dress....but she gave me a 1.5 inch square swatch and it was bigger than I expected!

I have no alterations so they would not have been able to give me a swatch from alterations, but does anyone know where they cut the swatch from?!? Im nervous Im going have a gaping hole in my gown...lol. I feel crazy to go back and ask where they cut the swatch from.

I am guessing that they have swatches of the fabric from the designer, and that it did not come from your dress directly.

It''s possible they have extra fabric from that style that they ordered for alterations on another dress.

Don''t worry they know better than to cut a big square chunk out of a dress. I bet they have swatches of all the fabrics and styles they sell and they just used that.

Where the dresses are made will send swatches of the colors to the salons. These are the generic colors that their dresses come in, and I''m sure they have a pile of them in their back room. (white, champagne, ivory, dark ivory... etc)

If you are worried just call and ask them where/how they got it.

yes, i was able to get a good size swatch from my dress the day i placed the order (meaning, clearly they just had it on hand). : )
