I''ve got time on my side, so I''m just asking out of curiosity. I''ve found a couple of dresses that show a little skin - too much skin if you ask me. But I love the design and the detail on them. What is the opinion on lining a designer gown for modesty?

here are the one''s I''ve been looking at...

the last 2 don''t seem too bad but the first one wowza! maybe just add a slip underneath and it should be fine. Depending on what the rules are at the church I''m sure you could have it altered to include sleeves or straps

I love the second one and don''t think that it would need too much done to it. The first one kind of shows a bit too much so I think lining it would be good if you were going to go for it.

I love the first one, but I''m afraid the lining will take away from the design. #2 is gorgeous too, and I dont think it''s showing too much skin at all.

I don''t know ...if you have to have a dress lined, then I would look around elsewhere. #2 is really pretty, and from the picture, it doesn''t seem like it would need much. But you''d have to see it on skin to tell for sure.

BUT if you really love it, and feel the need to cover it up more, I would get it professionally lined. I wouldn''t just put on a slip.

Are these dresses you''ve seen in person, or in photos? Because I think it''s possible that there are lots of dresses with this kind of detail that already have lining, and the detail doesn''t show the way these do. (white/ivory over white/ivory vs over skin)

#2 looks gorgeous and not at all revealing! I think it will be a lot easier to just find a dress you like that already has lining than to redo the dress. But yes, I find 1 and 3 too revealing.

I really like #2, I think it is gorgeous!
