My 2nd Pfizer dose was 3/31 so I am not due for the 8 month booster until early December. However, I have a few trips planned this fall and wanted to be sure I am protected. I had an antibody test this morning and I have almost none!!!! The nurse said that the test line was so faint that she would almost declare I have none. She recommended a booster immediately. So I got my 3rd dose shortly after the test. It is required to be immunocompromised to get a booster. I have Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune but not really compromising. They accepted it as a condition though. The pharmacist said that they accept almost anything.

So, get a test or a booster to be sure you are protected!

OMG @Gussie! I was on the fence today about getting the third one. You convinced me to get it. I have Graves which is autoimmune…It‘s not compromising either. I also have some skin immune disorders…Did you have a reaction after your first two Pfizer doses? Will you take another antibody test later to check on the third booster?

I didn't feel anything after the 1st dose. The 2nd one made me feel terrible but only for about 12 hours. I expect to feel bad after the booster (similar to 2nd dose). I hadn't thought about another antibody test but that's a great idea! It's a simple finger stick blood test and it was only $38 so no reason not to.

@Gussie Did you get it through your doctor?

Wondering are these test accurate?

They don't care. They'll jab anybody whom walks in. I heard a guy already had 4 jabs. They didn't even check his vaccine records.. :o

@MamaBee I heard Fauci recommend that we take the same vaccine booster that we had originally. Didn’t we both have Moderna? Anyway, good luck!! Fingers crossed!!

@Gussie interesting indeed. Thank you for sharing. Which vaccine did you have earlier in the year? I’m glad you were proactive and got the booster!!

The nurse said that the test isn't super sensitive. However, the test line should have been much stronger. I am traveling to low vaccination rate places so I want all the antibodies I can get!

I had Pfizer for all 3 shots. Still feeling OK but I expect to feel bad tomorrow.

You are now 50% protected. Will you need a 4th shot in 3-4 weeks?

I can understand why you got a booster given your travel plans. I’m sure you were shocked by the results of your antibody test (I know I would be), however apparently there are limitations to these tests. This article is interesting. I hope you do well with your booster, come on antibodies!

Darn! There is so much information out there. I didn't know antibody tests aren't really reliable for knowing protection. Oh well, I would honestly rather have another shot anyway just to be sure (if that's possible).

Plus, I think I probably needed a few more trackers. My life is so important that they need to be absolutely sure of where I am at all times. :lol-2:

Yes..We had Moderna..I just got my #3 Moderna! The tech did ask me questions. I answered truthfully. The tech asked me if my doctor wants me to get it. My doctor didn’t know I was getting it..but she would want me to get it. Then the tech asked why..I told her I have an immune disorder..I didn’t say immunicompromised…I do have an immune disorder..Graves…There’s another name for it..Bradow’s. I said that..The tech said okay. I was so nervous…I’m so glad I got it. Now I’ll see what happens as far as reactions.

They checked all my records.

That’s why I went with telling the truth that it was #3..I know I couldn’t lie and say it was my first.

What time did you get it? I got mine at 3:30 EST

It depends. They checked my records like @Gussie.

11:00 central @MamaBee. I have my calendar full thus week. I am so hoping not to feel bad!
I want to feel a little bad…I know it’s not supposed to make a difference if we don’t get a reaction…I just want something…I hope I don’t eat my words!

@Gussie I have to be honest…I panicked a little when you said you didn’t have antibodies. That was the push to get me to get that third one. It’s reassuring to know you probably were still protected. I‘ve been reading that there are so many different antibody tests that can‘t measure how well the vaccines are working..TG

I am so sorry @MamaBee and anyone else I alarmed. I did get really scared and the nurse practitioner who gave me the test was surprised as well and recommended to get the booster. Hopefully I have been protected all along but since I am traveling to low vaccination destinations I want to be very proactive.

@Gussie..I needed that push..I’m so happy you posted that this morning because I wanted to get it but couldn’t make up my mind. I finally did after seeing your post. I’m relieved that that it’s done.
