Cooks-what do you make when you don''t "feel" like cooking?

When I don''t feel like cooking I make macaroni and cheese or penne a la vodka (but the vodka sauce is bought so all I need to do is make the noodles and then pour the vodka sauce on top and sometimes mix in some mozzarella cheese for extra flavor - so that''s my go-to meal when I don''t feel like making much). DH really enjoys both of those things so I usually make those on my very late nights in school or when I get home from work late. Grilled cheese or cereal are also options if I don''t want to wait for noodles to boil.

When I don''t feel like cooking, I either make quesadillas or cook a frozen pizza. If I am feeling REALLY lazy, a bowl of cereal will do!

I never feel like not cooking! Of course, sometimes I''m limited by what I have, so I might make an omelette with green salad, or a risotto with Parmigiano, or mashed potatoes. Can''t remember the last time I made a PB&J sandwich or something of that sort.

I cook most nights of the week...and if I don''t feel like cooking, I don''t force it...we order in or go out.

hmm...store bought soup is my go to. I always keep a container or two in the freezer. or I''ll have Fi bring something home from his restaurant, but after 3 years of eating and smelling the same thing, the restaurant option only happens when I''m starving.

Also, a good sandwich made with french ham, soft roll, gruyere cheese, dijon mustard, and a bit of mayo, warmed till the cheese melts is delish!

My go to meals are:

Frozen ravs with jarred sauce (10 min)
Frozen pizza (15 min)
Chicken Helper Fettucine Alfredo (really it''s pretty good for being instant, much better than any jarred alfredo) (15 min)
Turkey club sandwiches (5 min)
Pancakes (10 min)
leftover meat (try to change it up a bit) with fresh garlic smashed potatoes (skins on) (25 min)

I also have one pot meals that don''t feel like cooking.

Chicken breast, potatoes, and veggies all cooked in a skillet with Lipton onion soup mix, rosemary and thyme. Takes about 45 minutes to simmer and then I use the leftovers to make chicken noodle soup.

Chicken breast marinated in Italian dressing and stir fried with frozen veggies. (have to marinate the chicken an hour ahead of time but cooks up in just a few minutes)

And, of course the crock pot.

I also freeze lots of meals. I make vats of soup and chili and freeze so that I just have to pop the bag in boiling water to heat up. (I use a food-saver) I also make extra spaghetti sauce that I can quickly thaw and add fresh noodles to.

I missed the non-cook thread. I''d like to see what they eat.....

Cheese toast or nachos. Basically anything with melted cheese!

If I'm not in a cooking mood, I will make:

Tomato soup with grilled cheese
Wraps with turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato
Breakfast
Pasta
Homemade pizza using store bought pizza dough (takes about 15 mins)
Tacos using leftover steak or chicken or Tyson frozen chicken strips that take only a few minutes to cook up right out of the freezer
Baked potatoes with various toppings

tortellini in hot broth. Tortellini cooks in 5-7 minutes for a small batch. 11-13 for a bigger batch. Trader Joes has good dried ones
This is one of my all time favorite comfort foods. My mom used to make it during the winter, it''s easy and cheap! top it with shredded parm and serve with crusty bread and butter...YUM!!!
Me too! LOVE this dish!

I''ve recently started having "baking days" to avoid having to throw together a meal at the last minute. On those days, I''ll make several meals, deserts, or side dishes and put them in the freezer. Then I always have something to go to when I don''t feel like technically cooking. Lasagna for example... you can line a baking dish with foil, add in all the lasagna ingredients (cooked except for the noodles) and then fold the foil over the top, pop it in the freezer. Once its sufficiently frozen, pop the lasagna out of the dish and then stick it back in the freezer until you need it. You really don''t even need to thaw it before baking if you don''t have the time.

I''m actually having a baking day today... I''m making garlic mashed potatoes, a few bbq chicken pizzas (these freeze really well!) and split pea soup. Technically thats not all being baked but you get the idea.
