Liberal, if you''re in the US.

If you''re talking about classic theory, though, I am NOT liberal, and especially not neo-liberal. Realistically speaking, those schools of thought are better affiliated with the US brand of conservativism.

I prefer progressive, since it gets rid of the classic definition of "liberal," which is pretty far away from what most people think of as "liberal" anyways, especially in the context of the US. We have funny politics. It doesn''t get much more socially progressive than me, though.

I don''t like being classified; particularly by the ''media machine''. I''ve voted both sides of the fence.

I don''t understand ''way left'' or ''way right''. There''s always a gray area; everyone has one.

I''m pretty sure it won''t come as a surprise that my values and political viewpoint are of a more conservative bent.

My only real pet peeve is a person who always votes straight party; you''re just letting someon tell you who to vote for. Give it some thought, or don''t vote.
Yep. Mine''s on me head.

It completely depends on the issue, for me. I''d say I''m liberal in my ideas about the world and progress. I''m more conservative in the way I live my life (didn''t live with hubby before marriage, that sort of thing.)

I took that quiz, here are my results:

Overall: 30% Conservative, 70% Liberal
Social Issues: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Interesting quiz! Thanks for posting it luckystar..

Overall: 40% Conservative, 60% Liberal
Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

I used to really consider myself a hardcore liberal when I was younger, I guess I'm going towards the 'conservative at 40' thing (Indy!). I still consider myself liberal.

Either/or black/white designations send up big red flags and set off piercing alarms in my head. I let other people decide how they like to pigeonhole me. I won''t fit in either place, but when people have made up their minds and neatly filed you away, reality doesn''t matter much.

Flaming liberal as a teenager in the late 1960''s. I would say I''m a somewhat conservative Liberal now.

The quiz says I''m fairly split (or Schizophrenic maybe?):

Overall: 45% Conservative, 55% Liberal

Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Ethics: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

DF you're a conservative. I think we've gone over this before...

I'm a libertarian in all parts of my life. I want 100% freedom at all times. I want to live my life how I choose and where I choose without being told what to do with my time or money. I'll take 100% responsiblity for my own life, just don't ask me to take 1% responsibility for anybody else's.

YAY NEL!!!!I''m glad you finally spilled the beans.

BF is a Libertarian as well.

DF, a Yellow Dog Democrat was a term used to describe people from the south that would vote Democrat every time, no matter who the candidate was. It is said that they would rather vote for a yellow dog than a republican.

He is? It''s rare to run into any these days, though I still get this little tinge of excitement when I overhear somebody mention they are a libertarian. I tend to avoid political topics IRL because while I am passionate about them privately, it''s not always easy to discuss it amongst acquaintances, you know? Anyway, tell your boyfriend a random woman on the internet says "Yay!" And also that his girlfriend has fantastic taste in shoes! :)

ETA: I would like to add that I do share views that are often classified as more liberal (i.e. no death penalty), but I''d be kidding myself if I didn''t fess up to being a conservative.

I''ve always thought of myself as entirely liberal, but I do believe in the death penalty for those who''ve commited horrible crimes and this shows in my test results where "defense and crime" comes out to 75% conservative.

My overall quiz results are:

Overall: 30% Conservative, 70% Liberal

Social Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

I used to be conservative, but I find the older I get the more liberal I become.

Interestingly enough, that is also a trend among United States Supreme Court justices. I''m not aware of a justice that came to the Court a liberal and became conservative, but there are several examples of the opposite happening.

One of the more liberal justices on the court, Justice Blackmun, came on the court as HUGE conservative. Chief Justice Berger and Nixon hand picked him for his conservative views.

Those didn''t last long as he became a learned member of the Court.

The results of my quiz (below) would lead you to belive I''m well balanced. I assure you I am not.

Social liberal, fiscal conservative!

I think that''s a pretty common viewpoint nowadays, at least with some of the people I know.

I am a second generation liberal

I know it is rare. I only know the two of you. Lol. And no it's not easy to discuss political topics with acquaintances-one of my good friends is uber conservative and she and I just avoid talking about politics like it's the plague. I told him and he said "Yay!" and that he agrees on the shoes. (Although I went to poke him when he looked like he was going to disagree.)

Liberal.

I am fiscally conservative but socially liberal...

I don''t fit a mold per say. As I have gotten older I am more liberal.

kaleigh, I have to agree with you on that. I tend not to fit in one mold, but I would say overall if it is about people I am more liberal and about finances I can be more conservative (politically only! not when I am shopping, ha ha!)

The 100% conservative on fiscal issues, see below, is a big one for me, it tinges the way I feel about everything else, because I believe if the gov''t were run like a good business is we would be in much better shape than we are now. But I am definitely a bleeding heart, especially regarding children and people with special needs. I was surprised by my personal responsibility percentages, as it is something I am typically very hard nosed about. Everything else seems just about right. In other words, I''m gray.

Overall: 45% Conservative, 55% Liberal

Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

I am more conservative than I thought I was!

Overall: 35% Conservative, 65% Liberal

Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Interesting...I was surprised at my ethics results...

Overall: 55% Conservative, 45% Liberal

Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Fiscal Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal

Defense and Crime: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal

A Libertarian sociologist?!? Freke, you can officially tell your BF that is the single craziest thing I have ever heard in my whole life!

I am liberal on certain issues and conservative on others. I''m a registered independent. I am not able to accept a "party line." I take each individual issue on its own merits.
