Today is the day. November 1 for the wedding of MiniMouse and MickeyMouse. Congrats and all the best to you both. Have a great time on your honeymoon, and let us know how the wedding went.
Just also wanted to be the first to say you are now officially Mrs. MickeyMouse to me.

Oh Shay and all my Pricescope friends, you guys have made me cry, I''m so touched. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your good wishes and interest in our tiny wedding, my ring etc etc. I have been keeping quite low key since we got back from honeymoon (on Friday), haven''t had much chance to do anything except feel sad the wedding and honeymoon is over (although married life is great), except for getting tugged out of bed by the leg if I''m not up by 5.30am! Unfortunately we start work here in Saudi Arabia at 7am - what an unGodly hour.
Okay, so let me fill you all in....
Mickey Mouse and Mini Mouse decided to head over to Bahrain on October 31st evening, after work. We originally were going to drive over on the morning of the wedding (November 1st), but due to heavy early morning fog that week, we decided to be safe and get there early. We stayed at the Regency Intercontinental overnight. Anyway, on the big day, November 1, we got up at about 8am and had breakfast. It was kind of weird to think that we were getting married, as we were only having a couple of witnesses present, so it seemed that we weren''t feeling stressed out as we didn''t have much to do. Anyway, I went down to the hairdresser and make-up person within the hotel. The make-up guy seemed to take forever, but I guess he had a lot of repair work to do to my face! Anyway, shock horror, my hair and make-up was finished at 11.50am - and we were due at the little cathedral 10 minutes drive away at midday! You should have seen me leg it back into the hotel at top speed. I barged into the room where Mickey Mouse was in his suit, looking a real picture. He looked so calm and told me not to panic, they wouldn''t start without us! I quickly changed and grabbed my bouquet of flowers out of the mini bar and off we headed to St Christopher''s Cathedral in my little VW Polo (it really could have done with being turbo charged!). Arrived about 7 minutes late. Our two dear witnesses (who have been married 34 years) were there waiting, and we all walked into the cathedral together. I could hardly believe the wedding march was played for such a small little wedding with me and my honey walking down the aisle together. The service itself was absolutely fantastic - so romantic and intimate. We didn''t have guests but wow, it was so touching and emotional. I have never experienced such a wonderful feeling before in my life. It was fabulous.
After the service we had photographs and then the new Mr and Mrs Mickey Mouse headed off to the Ritz Carlton for lunch with our witnesses. We enjoyed a great meal at the Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, because it was still the last day of Ramadan, the restaurant could not serve us alcohol
We arrived in Dubai and no sooner had we got off the plane, we saw a man with a sign "Mr and Mrs Mickey Mouse". It was weird to think they meant us! We were whisked past the Immigration queues and waved through another counter, where we were attended to immediately. We were then escorted to a Mercedes that was waiting for us, with chilled face towels and cold water waiting for us (you need to understand the temperatures are still very hot over here – 100F). We felt like movie stars. We arrived at the Mina A’Salam Hotel on Jumeirah Beach and we were taken care of in every way, we even had an upgrade to the Executive Club at no extra cost. Although we ended up with a bit of a bum room view (overlooking the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and sideways view of the Burj Al-Arab), we managed to move to another room two days later, which had the most fantastic views of the Madinat Jumeirah resort’s lagoon and complete ocean view. It was superb. The honeymoon there was out of this world, we drank champagne every day and relaxed and enjoyed the resort. The weather was superb. We were just surprised that there were so many wealthy Russians at the resort, but apparently it was a Russian holiday. We stayed for 9 nights of complete bliss. Yes, we ate and drank too much, but hey, when you think of our overall alcohol consumption over the whole year then I’m sure we’re at the bottom of the scale because Saudi Arabia is dry. We have to make up for it on visits out of the country. We tried to book a meal at the Burj Al-Arab, but because the hotel was totally fully booked, they were not taking reservations from outside. Disappointing, but we enjoyed some great meals at the Mina A’Salam and the Madinat Jumeirah resort as a whole (www.madinatjumeirah.com ). We still have many more restaurants to try during our next visit. Hubby really wants us to try out a stay at the Burj, just to see what it''s like.
The wedding and honeymoon has been a fabulous experience and hold some very wonderful memories for us, so before much ado, here’s a couple of pics.
Before I finish, guess what? I can’t believe hubby turned round on our wedding day and said that he knew we hadn’t got the size diamond we really were hoping to get in my engagement ring (we got a 1.6ct, but had wanted a 1.75ct to 2ct), but if I wanted an upgrade then just to get in touch with Whiteflash and ask them to look out for something in the 2ct to 2.3ct size. I was gobsmacked! However, I suspect he doesn’t quite realize how much extra it will cost! I’m going to have to get John and Lesley searching for me as we’re back in the States again in April.
