I, Gypsy, confess to mercilessly stalking my registry. *hangs head in shame* We have two presents so far from the registry, and another delivered yesterday that wasn''t a registry gift (but was a lovely gift).

(Not that I expect people to buy us things, but ya know... it''s really lovely and generous of them when they do.).

It didn''t occur to me that I''d have to store all this stuff. Whoops.

Fess up... ya know you''ve done it.

LOL, I saw your title and cracked up.

Have you had the shower yet? Be careful...I did some serious registry stalking, so each time a present was plopped into my lap, I guessed what it was before I could unwrap it...so the genuine excitement was sortof.. I dunno...misplaced. I was excited as I started to unwrap, but by the time I got the actual item in my hand, I was having a hard time keeping up the same level of "Wahoo! Thanks for the thingie I picked out!" enthusiasm.

LOL-- happy to make you smile.

I''m not having a shower. I nixed the idea when it was clear I would have to plan it myself. So, hopefully, any misplaced enthusiasm will be in the privacy of my own home, instead of in front of audience.

I''m fascinated to find out which people are buying what though.

Yes, I've done this too

Only one thing has been bought off our registry so far.
Except, you know, the one thing I bought myself. SHH!

Seeing that first "real" one was a bit of a thrill!

LOL Musey! I wanted to buy one of the things myself as well, but talked myself into waiting for the completion discount. Our first gift purchase was on Monday so I know what you mean. Today''s was really exciting though, something I put on the registry a little last minute and is purely an ''indulgence'' item instead of a necessity. Not something I''d buy for myself, so I was really excited.

I definitely would have as well... but the item went on backorder and I was worried it would sell out! Good thing I got it when I did (ahem... February) because it''s now discontinued.

At least, that''s what I tell myself...

Okay, first I read the thread title and smiled. Gyspy''s posts usually always make me smile.

Then I read this and starting laughing out loud...y''all are too funny....

Every bride I know does this and I never understood it. Then my daughter started doing it and her FI at that time kept telling her to Stop It!! He wanted to be surprised. So she did stop it...telling him that is. She stopped telling him she was stalking her registry.

Raises hand. I was extremely guilty of stalking my registries, sometimes more than once a day- shameful, I know! Weddingchannel.com is an enabler by the way. It gives you the convenience of typing in your name and having links to all of your registries appear on one page. Sadly as you can see, I had registry stalking down to a science.

I do it too! We have 5 things so far..(all honeymoon registry). I have a weddinghchanel.com registry as well with the combined 3 registries in 1 thing for household items. Too funny! It''s just fun to look!

Wow, do the registries deliver as things are purchased?

That would drive me nuts!

Here, they store everything for up to 8 weeks after the wedding - which then allows time for you to spend any vouchers that people have purchased. Then they deliver everything at a time convenient to you.

We''re in the middle of buying a new house, so I don''t want anything delivered until we are moving. I rang them to discuss it - normally they charge you $50 a week for storage for every week after the 8 weeks, but they have given me 5 weeks extra free! Yay!

However, I stalked it daily - good thing I did, we ran out of things and I had to add a load more new stuff! In the end, the only things missing were the saucepans and 2 soap-dishes.

We''re renting our current property out once we move, so despite living together and being in our mid-30s we actually needed a new set of everything so we can just leave the old sets here!

Hangs head in shame along with Gypsy...I am the absolute worst, and it''s driving my best friend crazy that I''m doing it!

Our wedding reception isn''t until next weekend (the 16th), and I must admit that I am fascinated to discover who purchased what, and how fitting some of the gifts are from some of the givers. I also admit to trying to guess what each gift was at my shower, and had a hard time acting surprised when it was what I had guessed in my head.

I was checking it almost daily, but now that I''m already back at work and have students coming Monday, I haven''t had as much time to check it, but I''m running to check BB&B right now! And like miracle said, I just don''t tell my best friend that I''m stalking it still, but Rusty loves hearing when we''re getting something, so I guess it evens itself out! (He''s waiting with baited breath for the microwave his aunt and uncle purchased for us off of Amazon!)

We have almost 150 people coming to the reception, and the only gifts we''ve received are from people not able to attend, but we''ve already received almost everything people bought so far, so maybe they''re all just coming for the free food?

I''ll start a Registry Stalkers Anonymous...anyone else care to join?

I stalked my registry(s) ridiculously! Want to know the worst part???? Some things were bought and marked off the registry and we never got them!!!!! So somewhere out there I think I still have some presents!!! We got married on 4-20-07 and I''m still waiting.

Oh man, that''s NICE!!

To my knowledge it''s standard to deliver things as they are bought. I read on here once that people will be expecting their thank-you note within a couple weeks, so I guess if everything were stored up things could get confused!

My DD must be at BB&B right now because I just received a text message from her and it said this:

"Did you know they sell tampons and shampoo at BB and B now? Can you imagine resgistering for a lifetime supply of tampons?"

LMAO....my daughter. Apple didn't fall far from the tree

We have a couple of missing gifts also. DH thinks he remembers someone mentioning that they purchased one of the items and would give it to us later but he isn''t sure.... and we don''t know what happened to the other missing item. Oh well, haha!

Ah, but I have a list on the registry of who bought what, so it''s easy to do - easier in fact than making a list as things arrive and then losing it (which I am prone to doing!)

I was a total registry stalker. It was a true illness for me. I was checking at least once a day, and right before my shower and then again before the wedding, I was up to check several times a day! It was B-A-D!

But here''s the thing...

I was excited.

It was my wedding.

I got a free pass to be nosy.

End of story.

So, enjoy your gifts and registry snooping...it''s a thrilling time!

Haha this thread just made me stalk again!

I am a total stalker. I get sooo excited! It is hilarious though - sometimes I get worried about silly things because of it. For example, if no one is buying the towels, I worry that we picked ones that were too expensive, or a bad colour. Ha.

I enjoy stalking it, my FMIL loves stalking it and my FI loves hearing about what we''ve received. haha it is an illness that I don''t mind having!

Gypsy, you are too cute, and you are in good company... we all seem to be registry stalkers. I check my macys one like 3 times a day..

Have any of you ever hit refresh? Oh the shame.

;)

DH was actually a far worse registry stalker than I was (I'm not saying that I didn't do my fair share of registry stalking, though
11.gif
). A month before the wedding I got an email from him every other day it seemed saying: "someone bought us ___!" or "___ is on its way!" He was so excited. Haha!

It kind of helped the workday go faster when you were expecting a new whatchamacallit from your registry at home or were curious to see whose RSVP would show up in your mailbox that day. We agreed in the beginning to open all of the packages together... that was a tough one. It was like a mini-Christmas every other day. Haha!

Okay so I’m definitely in good company then! I haven’t checked today, though I will. We received a couple of gift cards yesterday which was VERY exciting. I love gift cards, they represent possibilities to me. I can think about all the things I can get and just have fun dreaming for a little while. I’m going to wait until we get our completion discount but I’m pretty sure our Dyson will be around, and our knives, so I think I’ll just combine them (especially if we get a few others) for one of the larger ticket items. Or maybe not. I could get my stemware. Or a couple of sets of the awesome sheets I registered for! Anyway… possibilities!!

It definitely makes the workday go faster!

I admit I haven’t hit refresh… just for your Julia I will have to today.

Musey if it was going to be discontinued and you wanted it, then it’s a free pass IMO.

Pandora, I have to say it would be lovely if they held onto them for you. But we are in instant gratification culture, so I’m not sure it would be very popular over here. Though personally, it would be ideal.

I have to start writing thank you cards this weekend.

Miracles your daughter is too cute. I’m updating John. He’s just waiting to hear someone bought the knives he wants. They are his favorite item on the registry.

Off to stalk!

John sounds just like Dalin. All he really cared about was the knives and a couple of the All Clad pans. So I elected to purchase a few of the ones that I knew they needed and the one chopping kamakaze knife he really wanted. They forget to put a knife holder on the list, but maybe they will go with those magnetic walls things, I hope not...not once they have kids.

Now he wants a chainmail glove to clean them with so my daughter doesn''t cut herself. Good idea I told him. I prefer he handle the knives. Men.
2.gif

Yeah. Men indeed. I had to register for open stock instead of a set because the ones he wants are so expensive I thought it was ridiculous to put a 800-1000 item on the registry. I think he''ll be thrilled if he just gets one, the chefs knife, but I put quite a few on there just in case. People have already told me "in confidence" that they dont'' think knives are an appropriate wedding gift, the violence and all that. So I suspect the gift cards will be going toward the knives after all.

People are weird. LOL.

There''s a superstition about gifting with any sharp object: it severs the the (friendly) ties between the giftor and the giftee
9.gif
.The only way to get around the bad feelings is to give a small amount of money as "payment" for the gift. Usually, $1 is appropriate.

This superstition is courtesy of my late mom. If you need more of these, just say the word.
9.gif

Ahhh. Well, see that makes sense in context. Okay, gift cards are earmarked for knives then, since we may not get any of them.

Funny, only people I''ve bought knives for we''ve lost touch with. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Thanks Isabel!
