can anyone recommend a good one? FI has been shopping around for one, but most of the ones he''s seen look like clown bikes to me, two tiny wheels on an average sized bike frame, so weird

DH has a Brompton as do most people I know in London with collapsible bikes. They''re not cheap but they are very good - he uses his to get to work.

hi pandora, is it more of a street bike then? FI''s been looking for a bike to use when he is running errands, but i know he will want to use it for exercise as well, i''m just not sure if a collapsible bike is the right direction to go in

It''s not.

Collapsible bikes have their place and reason for being, but unless you actually need the feature of folding, the compromises outweigh the benefits. Fullsize real bike for the win.

Collapseable bike is a crappy bike, and ONLY worth it if there is some serious need for the collapseable part. Like taking the bike on public transit. Even for errands a full-size would probably be better cause you are not going to want to put a collapseable bike in your grocery cart; you'd probably want a regular bike and lock it up outside if its at all safe to do so.
