I don''t get her.

I like her songs...they''re "bubbly" (so appropriately titled) and catchy, but I do NOT think she is a very good singer! I''ve seen her sing live on several talk shows lately, and she sounds like someone who can carry a tune, but not someone who is actually a "professional" singer. How does someone like her become so popular? She''s not even some knock-out beauty, at least in my opinion!

I think she has a lovely voice, she doesn''t have a BIG voice like some artists though.

I believe she was discovered through Myspace (or a similar social networking site). I don''t think its important that she is a great singer, she is a musician and a songwriter... like the female version of John Mayer but less famous.

cindy - I agree very much with you

I wanted to add that it seems we''re taking a trend to more soulful and folky singers/songwriters and also to more raw, down to earth individuals who write and do their own stuff completely. I actually really like Colbie. I think she went from being a beginning up and comer to popular VERY quickly and that probably has some to do with her performances. It''s interesting what media can do for people.

There have been a TON of really fresh artists that have become popular due to exposure on reality tv shows... one in particular I can think of is Laguna Beach, there were several artists who really got their break from that show. The songs just breathe, 100 years to live, Coming Clean, Time, and a few others became rather popular after they were played on the show.

I don''t think she''s anything special, but she''s REALLY easy to sing along to! (I guess that says something about the complexity of her songs/the skill level...) She''s the kind of thing you put on for background music for a backyard barbecue or on your way to the beach.

I initially wasn''t familar with her (hey, I''m 49 and listen to classic rock stations lol), but I went on youtube and realized I''ve heard this song on the radio...this is a pretty big hit, isn''t it? Anyway, her songs are pretty catchy, and vocally, I think she shows more range on the song "Fallin'' for You". I like her, and good for her for being able to break into the music business and have some success, it''s so hard these days.

Ok, that''s it, I''ve got to get off this computer and clean my house!!
