Chicken Pox Resurgence

My friend just got chicken pox.
Her doctor told her it''s coming back because so many parents do not vaccinate their kids.

This kind of makes me mad.
I''m really concerned for her well being.
She''s 80.

did it come as chicken pox or as shingles? from what i understand shingles is the adult form of chicken pox.

Has she had it before? If so, then this reactivation is generally known as Zoster, and I can''t really say it has much to do with vaccinations since everyone who has had chicken pox or the vaccine has a chance of getting Zoster reactivation when they are older. I wasn''t really aware that chicken pox was ever away enough to "come back", I''m not sure it''s on the list of "required/standard childhood immunizations" like MMR or pertussis, but correct me if I''m wrong.

If she herself had never had chickenpox, did she get vaccinated as an adult?
