changing name

Today I am going to send a message to the mode asking to change my name to Arkteia. I wanted to use the name from the very beginning but could not because the system said it had been used. Crasru was a totally random choice of a lurker but I ended up posting a lot... so I am sick and tired of the name which I never liked too much. Arkteia means Polaris, the Northern Star, in Greek, and I should have been Arktoi, a she-bear, which I used for a character in my school stories, but the name has been taken by a group on Facebook. I am leaving my old avatar, the cat's name is Alisa, and my son likes this photo. For a while I shall be mentioning "former Crasru". My latest trip to ruins of old Ionic Greek cities finally convinced me to change the name. Thank you for reading

You don't need ther admin to do it You can do it yourself under account settings or something. Go to My Pages and mess around until you find the right spot.

Good for you. I posted at another site for 8 years (well, two related sites, first one then the other, I used the same name) and didn't like the name I chose. I never would have had the guts to change it. I quit a couple weeks ago so I'm finally free of it.

I changed my name a little bit, dropped the second part for an initial. Very freeing

Good choice! The Polar Star, the one that guides. Arkteia is musical, which Crasru wasn't. I also love bears -- and lady-bears are such wonderful mothers but they don't take no s**t.

Also has personal meaning: I named my first Siberian North Star, after a town in Alaska. Wanted my kennel name to be Pole Star but it was already taken by a racing kennel. Star came into my life at a time when I badly needed grounding, a guide, something bright always visible, & she provided that with dedication. Fitting -- you do much of the same on PS.

I chose "Sagittarius" because it is my sun sign.

Interesting that you changed your name to that of a star. My favorite star is Rigel, but not for reasons that you chose yours. I love it because it's extremely luminous, and a huge blue giant star in the constellation Orion. I love stars, other favorites are Betelgeuse (in the same constellation as Rigel. . . Orion), a red hypergiant. Another is Eta Caranae, which will explode soon, and VW Canis Majoris, the largest known star. The sun is a spec of microscopic dust in comparison to the size of that monster.
