My step sister will be singing a song during our church ceremony, but I have no idea of what song she should sing. I need ideas!!!!

HELP!

what kind of ceremony will it be? secular, religious, or spiritual?

it will be more spiritual than religious, but it will be in a presbyterian church, performed by a minister. So it will have religious aspects.

hmmm...

some spiritual songs that come to mind that *might* be appropriate (level of appropriateness determined by yours and your FI''s christianity i guess) include...
- open the eyes of my heart
- all in all (double meaning?)
- amazing grace
- be thou my vision (we''re using a revamped version of this song for one of our songs)
- the prayer by josh gorban

some secular songs that might work....?
- to make you feel my love by garth brooks
- the love i found in you by jim brickman (never heard it but the lyrics are lovely?)
- the vows go unbroken by kenny rogers (maybe skip the middle verse?)
- just as long as i have you by don williams
- i swear by john michael montgomery
- from this moment on by shania twain

okay, now i realize that the majority of those are country songs, but in all honesty i just went through a website and picked out ones with lyrics that looked decent (with the exception of the don williams song...that''s a personal favorite). i''m drawing total blanks tonite! i''ll see what else i can think of tomorrow

this might be a stupid question, but have you asked your FI? maybe he has some ideas that he just hasn''t been prompted to think of yet! another stupid question, but are there any songs that are important to the two of you that didn''t make the cut as your first dance song, etc?

I sang at my grandmother''s wedding.. I did a duet with my sister to Pie Jesu and then we sang "An Irish Blessing"

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Also, I''ve heard a beautiful A Capella version of "What a Wonderful World"

Thanks for the suggestions!! i appreciate it!

At what point during the ceremony will she be singing?

Ditto. Also, the last one I did - I sang "Ave Maria", right after the mothers lit the unity candle. I sang the first verse with all eyes on me - the bridesmaids and flower girls/ring bearer walked down the aisle during the second verse.

Not sure yet, but likely somewhere in the middle, before we exchange vows.

If she is a classical singer, I recommend a gustav Mahler song called "Liebst du um Schoenheit." Its perfect music for a wedding.

Here is a clip on youtube so you can hear it. Its available in many keys and piano reduction for singer and piano.

Liebst du um Schönheit If you love for beauty
Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866) Op. 12 No. 4

o nicht mich liebe! oh, do not love me!
Liebe den Frühling, Love the spring,
