How are ya? I have a quick question for you. Did you end up going with Kristy for your program fans? I just received my sample today and they don't seem very sturdy at all - they kinda flop over almost like they're wilting

I'm so disappointed 'cause I've been looking forward to these fans since FI and I first connected with Kristy about our invites

Hey Pocahontas!

I''ve actually been playing around with the idea of DIYing them. I found some templates online and did a couple runs through our home computer; they turned out pretty good, I think. If you have a printer at home, maybe you should try it; they''re a lot cheaper than having them made for you.

I bought some 8.5 x 11 cardstock paper and cut it out by hand. Because the paper is folded, the fans came out pretty sturdy. I just need to buy some tongue depressors to ''finish'' the look.

Paddle Fan Template

I''ll see if I can attach some photos....

The only thing that''s bad about printing at home is that I''m limited to the black ink... (Also, we haven''t decided yet what we''re gonna print on them. We may do a program; we may not.)

On a different topic, what do you think of cootie catchers as escort cards/menus/conversation starters? I don''t know if it''s too ''cutesy''....

Here''s some on plain white printer paper (test sample). Lemme know what you think!

Hi Inanna!

Here''s where I got the template. I used the one halfway down the page with no lines for a more ''clean'' look. Am glad you like the idea!

Hey CDN, I do love the idea of a DIY project, but I have zero time to get involved with something like that. FI and I just bought a house (got the keys yesterday

) and we''re going to be busy fixing it up over the next month AND I''m soooo busy with school and work, not to mention finishing up the loose ends of the wedding planning. I''ve seriously been breaking out in hives all over my chest, back and head ''cause of all the stress. It''s really quite gross

TMI?! Sorry!

I like the templates you''re using though. IWPO also did DIY program fans and they turned out great (stole the idea from her actually). At this point, I''m committed to working with Kristy so I''ll just have to talk to her about tweaking the fans a bit, I guess. As far as the cootie catchers go, I LOVE them! I think they''re perfect! How''re you doing?

Pocahontas,

First of all, congrats on buying a house and getting the keys!

That''s awesome!

Second of all, boo
38.gif
on getting hives; that sucks! I''m sure you''re already doing this but just in case, make sure you take some antihistamines. Once you get on that plane, hopefully all that stress will melt away.

RE: Kristy, ask her to use heavier paper (ie. cover stock). If she uses a template like the one I posted above, the fan becomes even sturdier ''cause the paper is doubled. I''m confident they''ll look fabulous once your issues have been addressed.

I''m so excited for you! Can''t wait to hear how everything goes next month.

We''re doing pretty good; just anxious to get on that plane ourselves and have us some warmth and sunshine!

Thanks Skippy! I''ll have to try them out with heavier paper and see how they turn out. We''re having an outdoor reception and I wouldn''t want them blowing around!

Oh thank you CDN! Those are SO cool!

I''m also having an outdoor ceremony and wonder if the sea breezes will have them blowing all over the place. Still, they''re so cute, I think I need to start experimenting with them. Thanks again!
