LiW Catholic wedding question

My cousin just asked if I''d be up for doing a reading at his wedding.
He said "it would be a 2nd reading for the normal catholic service thingy."

But I have no idea what a normal Catholic service is!

Could anyone please shed some light or point me in the direction of appropriate 2nd readings?

There are websites that will give you appropriate readings, http://weddings.about.com/od/yourweddingceremony/a/classicreadings.htm . I don''t think that weddings are really strict when it comes to what each reading is. But there are a few good ones on this site.

most likely the church will provide a list of readings. from that, typically the bride and groom chooses what is to be read and by whom.

here's a run down of what we used:

First Reading by Name
Tobit 8:5-7
Responsorial Psalm by Name
Psalm 145:8-9, 10, 15, 17-18
Second Reading by Name
1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8a
Gospel Reading
Mark 10:6-9

jcrow - Ah! I had no idea that the bride and groom usually select the readings. If that''s the case, great! No big decisions on my part! I will check with my cousin....

Okay, just confirmed w/ cousin that they''ll be assigning the reading. Phew!

sounds good. they should also provide a typed version prior to the ceremony so that you can be familiar with the reading. and they usually provide a typed version for the day of the ceremony so that you don''t have to walk up with a paper in your hands.
