they just opened a brand new zales by me on the upper west side. i would have thought manhattanites (especially upper west siders) would have more refined taste, but APPARENTLY NOT. that place was freakin'' swamped last weekend. i wanted to bust in there and liberate everyone from a fate of frozen spit (like when elliot sets all of the frogs free in ET), but i resisted.

One opened in midtown as well...seems they are doing good business, and trying to uplift their reputation.... It''s sort of tempting to buy DIAMOND jewelery when it''s only $99, and most people don''t know the difference between forzen spit and beautiful gems....

This is too funny! But in all seriousness...I was at the mall yesterday and went into one of the jewelry stores there to do a little research and almost died. They had a 1.01ct I/I1 for $8972

I did a search up at the top here and I can buy them all day long under 3K! What a rip off. The women in the store saw my diamond and they wouldn't even come near me. I think they knew I wasn't dumb.

Edited: It wasn't Zales but it was a chain store just the same.

I refrain from jewlery stores in the mall all together. I find that I get to keep my sanity (although I enjoy the hearty belly laughs), and I reduce my chances of being "escorted" out of there, when I try to look at their most expensive and best stones with my loupe, and stiffle giggles...
