Can you fold a fitted sheet?

Yes I can/ I taught DH how to do it, but really, i'm with Kenny. Totally not worth the effort. I usually just half-ass fold it and put it in the drawer... Who cares if the bottom sheet is wrinkly?

Well I was taught how to do that by my grandmother but I never fold my sheets including fitted sheets so yes, I can do that if I really, really concentrate and try very, very hard- can being the operative word.

I have a system for folding them, but I am sure it is not the proper way. I let the fitted flap part fold over and then attempt to fold it like it is not a fitted sheet. I just wad it up from there so that it will be the same dimensions as the flat sheet when it is folded. When I store them in the linen closet I put the fitted on the bottom then the pillow cases on top of that and then the flat sheet on the very top so when I go to get a set it is all there and you dont see the mess that is the fitted sheet because it is on the bottom

Why do you transport sheets?

I just saw this, sometimes we house sit and it's just so nice not having to pay to wash clothes, but I have to trek them out there and back.

FI isn't a folder, he's a roller. Everything gets either hung or rolled up and stacked in drawers/cupboards like little tetris blocks, then god forbid you need something from the back!

I'm neither folder nor roller, more - stuffer.

I found the perfect answer. Don't buy fitted sheets. Just buy flat ones. They iron to perfection and the joy that folding hospital corners on my beds gave me was far greater than sitting in any psychologists chair could.

My mom taught me to fold sheets this way. She was very particular in the way sheets and towels were folded, and I now carry that trait. I fold my sheets the marth style.

I do it the Martha Stewart way and it still looks like a mess. Oh well! We don't really have extra sets of sheets, so most of our fitted sheets are on the two beds, and not folded in the closet anyway.

I don't buy sets, I buy everything loose. It works. If you are going to do it, here is a tip. If you have a Queensized bed, buy a Kingsize flat sheet for the bottom (instead of the fitted sheet). Because it's larger, it won't come un-tucked like a Queensized one will.

So when I said "Hospital Corners", I guess you all knew what I mean't? I felt sure someone would ask me.

My mother taught me hospital corners when I was in grade school, and I was expected to make my bed that way every morning. In addition, I was a candy-striper as a teen, and we made beds using only flat sheets and those hospital corners. OMG, it's now perfectly clear to me why I'm OCD about my linens! And yes, I can fold a mean fitted sheet - when I'm done with it, DH cannot tell if it's a flat or fitted unless he unravels it. But that may just be a guy thing, lol!

So Gailey, when you place your flat sheet on the bottom, do you line up the edge of the sheet with the foot of the mattress and only tuck under the remaining 3 sides, or do you tuck under on all 4 sides?

I fear if I answer this question, I will be forever branded a fanatic!

Oh well, I guess there are less desparate things to be fanatical about.

It largely depends upon what size the bed is and what kind of sleeper you are. If you have a Queensized bed then a Kingsized bottom sheet will allow you you tuck top and bottom of the sheet well under the mattress, thus giving you good coverage on all 4 sides.

If you have a Kingsized bed and Kingsized sheets, then you have to decide if you want the head or the foot of the bed most secure. In my experience, you don't have enough length to tuck both ends under securely.

So, if you or your SO, generally thrash about at the head of the bed, then secure that end first. Bear in mind if you use a top sheet that is securely tucked in at the foot of the bed, then that assist in holding down the bottom sheet.

OK, now I know nothing about crown angles and table sizes, so just remember, we can all be a little obsessive of at least one aspect of our lives - right?

Give me a day or two to get some photos up, because I have weeds to pull tomorrow.

I did it! I did it! I have NEVER been able to fold a fitted sheet. I normally just try and fold it like a normal sheet, get frustrated, and end up wadding it into a ball and stuffing it in the closet. Well I looked at the Martha Stewart link, whipped out one of my sheets, and it worked! On the first try! Is it sad that I feel so accomplished that I want to email the picture to all of my family and friends? Bah, I don't care if it is sad, here's the picture!
