It was a good summer. He had finally finished college that past May so we FINALLY had all this free time to do things! Which is why we went to all the parks and lakes. He hadn't been fishing probably since 2003 before last year so he was super excited. Well, since I'm on the topic of summer '08..we went to our 3rd Jack Johnson concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. (The only concerts we go to are Jack Johnson and Coldplay) We nearly sat in the same seats we had last time we went to see him. (General admission seats so we had to go early to get a good spot. Last time we were in row 8...same side)
The HUGE crowd behind us. We sat in row 11 this time...
Dream I think your SO and my SO would be best buds if they ever met. SO has this pair of blue (and a little yellow) hibiscus board shorts so I''m sitting here, looking through your recent pic updates, thinking how funny it is that your SO gets just as excited as mine when he catches the worlds smallest sunnies (thats what the yellow ones are nicknamed) and LOW AND BEHOLD I come to the picture of your SO and hes wearing BLUE HIBISCUS BOARD SHORTS! Uncanny!
I''m so jealous of that Jack Johnson concert- it looks amazing! I have seen him three times now too!!!!! That''s awesome you love him- my wedding song with for sure be a Jack Johnson song- probably Better Together. What about you? You look like you live in a gorgeous place, that you can go outdoors and take wonderful pictures like that!
Dreamgirl, thanks for sharing your awesome summer photos. You and your SO are so cute!
I love Red Rocks, and I adore going to shows at the Amphitheater. Do you ever go to any of the Movies on the Rocks? They are so much fun. One of my first dates with FI a few summers ago was seeing Animal House there. I can''t remember if it was last summer or the summer before, but we saw Wedding Crashers at Red Rocks, and they had a whole wedding-themed program beforehand where a couple who won a radio contest actually got married onstage.
Okay, more fun questions for you: do you like to cook? If so, what do you like to make? What are your favorite foods? When you and SO get married, where will you register? Do you have china patterns and such that you like?
Oh, and I love the photos of your little doggie. I''m so sorry she''s no longer with you. It sounds like she was a sweetheart.
Hi Dreamgirl!! Just saw that you updated your thread so I came to take a look....Your and your SO look like you have so much fun together!
I love your Red Rocks pictures...that''s one of my most favorite places to go. It''s so surreal and relaxing. Concerts there are amazing!!! I bet Jack Johnson was soooo much fun!! FI and I love Jack Johnson...His "Better Together" song is on our short list for our first dance.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for sharing your pics!
Wow! I haven''t come to my page in a while so I didn''t know there were more posts! I will reply to you all (though I''m sure you''ve forgotten you have posted as well)
Since I''ve shared the story of my little one, today is the 4 year anniversary of her passing. So I thought I''d share a photo of her that cracks me up and makes me smile and remember how much fun she was! In the summertime she used to LOVE playing in fresh, wet cut grass...as you can see here
I feel like we haven''t "talked" in ages. Update us on what''s new with you! What kind of fun things did you do this summer? Do you have anything planned for the fall? I think I will be doing the corn maze out at Chatfield again--though it was much harder than I thought it would be when we did it last year. That''s always a fun fall thing, as is finding new ski gear and carving pumpkins and the like.
How is your job going now that you''ve been there for a year? I think I remember you mentioning that.
Hey there kittybean! How funny I just happened to come over to Who's Who when I found my thread toward the top! You've just posted in here today. This is a great place to catch up!
I also feel like we haven't seen each other around. Part of that may be that I've been very busy with my job lately. Things are going very well here! My 1 year anniversary is on the 18th. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. I'm still loving it, love the co-workers...it's perfect!
I should post some photos of stuff we've done lately. I've stayed close to home this summer with the rough economy taking place and FF being out of a job. But we have done some fun things.
I FINALLY caught my first fish in June!!! It was a little pan fish just like I wanted to catch! I was pretty excited about that.
We checked out Four Mile Historic Park and walked around. Don't know if you've been there but it's not far from Cherry Creek Mall. They have some events throughout the year I guess and they have a pumpkin thing happening in October that I think we may go to. Something else in December for Christmas too. It's a fun little place. I've never done the corn maze at Chatfield. I remember when I was younger we did something like that up north. But I've always wanted to check that out. How much does it cost to get in?
On my birthday S and I went to Hudson Gardens. What a gorgeous place that is! Of course, while there I was "scouting" for a future wedding. I've got a dream place in mind but Hudson's was something else I've always thought would be nice as well. Perhaps that will be my backup?
We were just up in the mountains not far from home on Saturday. I found a load of ladybugs up there while we were looking around. Took some nice photos of that too! I'll have to share. We also drove up to dream site but there was a wedding taking place so we didn't get to go up to it. This was our 3rd time driving up to the place and looking at it from the car lol. We are in love with it!
Went into some more Italian style homes to check them out. Not buying yet but we just love going to look at open houses.
This weekend is the Festival Italiano at Belmar. We certainly wont miss that! Speaking of Italy, have you posted photos from the honeymoon yet?
So instead of working hard today, I've been resizing photos to share!
We went to the museum at the end of May. Thought I'd share the BEST view of Denver. The clouds and lighting were just right when I took this photo. We wanted to rent a paddle boat to play in City Park but it was just too hot that day and I think I remember a storm coming...
I've been feeling artistic with photo taking lately. (you will notice in photos to come...) Especially of close up things. I think I got that from shooting jewelry up close.
Anyway, I love this shot. Taken at the museum in the gem sculptures hall. These gem sculptures are amazing. You wouldn't believe the detail! I can't remember all the gems other than the watermellon is ruby...
Dabbling into some more close up shots of things...this is a crab spider taken at work in the flower garden I volunteered to take care of this summer. I couldn''t help but snap a photo. Never seen anything like it!
I've apparently forgotten to bring some photos of Hudson's with me. So for now I'll show you some lovely shots I captured there. This was on my birthday, July 10.
S and I went there together as I took the day off from work. It was a lovely day!
I'm always taking photos of S being little Huck Finn. He acts like a 2 year old child when something that captures his eye. This time, what caught his eye.............?
Isn't it lovely? Other than that stupid telephone pole in the background, this place takes second place in dream venue sites! I'm DRAWN to picturesque sites.
Thanks for sharing your pretty pictures, Dreamgirl. Where is Hudson Gardens? It looks like somewhere I should try and visit!
I love Italian-style homes, too. I really like some of the ones I saw that were closer to the mountains, but we don''t really want to move too far from downtown. We like city life a lot at the moment, and it just makes more sense for us as far as work goes. We''re looking to buy a place fairly soon, but we''re not quite sure what we want! Have you seen any pretty Italian-style places close to the city? If you have, let me know!
The corn maze is somewhere between $5-10 (less than 10, I''m pretty sure). I can''t remember quite how much, but it was a fun little outing. Is S good with maps and directions? If I hadn''t had DH with me, I probably would still be in there as I am pretty directionally challenged.
I''ve always love the view of Denver from the museum--so much that the museum was a serious contender for our wedding venue! They have this gorgeous atrium and terrace where you can see the city, and if we had been inviting a lot less people, it would have probably been there. I haven''t been in the gem sculptures hall lately (don''t know why not!), but I remember those sculptures from visiting as a little kid. They are so neat!
I remember you saying that you love pretty winter coats--have you seen any good ones yet? I bought a navy trench coat recently, but I still want to get a nice heavier coat for winter (one can never have enough coats, IMO).
