What are some nice gated neighborhoods with newer construction in NJ near the NY line?

Thanks in advance!

I''m not from the NJ area...but I would recommend getting a real estate agent, they will be able to show you everything in your area/budget.

Thanks Italia! At this point, I am not serious enough for an agent. Just trying to get a feel for some nice areas in a few different parts of the country. Care to weigh in on Chicago?!

Can anyone help? I looked on MLS but it is hard to tell what is a good area and what isn''t-- especially what locations have good amenities nearby, etc.

It''s really best to just contact an agent. See if a friend/family member has someone they can recommend. Just tell them that you aren''t in the market just yet but want to get your ducks lined up.

A potential commission down the line will be enough incentive for them to help you a bit. It''s not like you will be wasting their time wanting to go to tons of open houses without being intent on buying ya know? You just want a conversation and some neighborhood direction...

Ditto. No harm in getting the ball rolling even if you aren''t ready to buy yet.. Are you thinking of the Princeton area, or farther north?? Short Hills, etc...?

Near the New York state line would be like Montvale, Saddle River. I grew up in Monmouth County but my mom is from Upper Saddle River. I really think you need a real estate agent because northern NJ can vary quite a bit and you need someone who knows regional things to help you.
