Oh and poodle mutts are the best! I have a poodle mutt too--they are crazy funny and really smart. Do your guys lay with their back legs splayed out--bowed out?

Oh yes they do! We call it their "doodle pose".

Hiya Neat!!
35.gif

So nice to read about you! I LOVE your pups--they are so darling! My kind for sure! I also love the names you picked for your boys. You are going to be a great Momma, and I wish you much luck with the delivery. Any day now, eh? Are you nervous?

So you've been on bedrest? My sis was on bedrest for months--not a lot to do huh. How have you been entertaining yourself?--besides PS
9.gif

What do you read?

eta: just saw you're currently reading cookbooks-- what besides cookbooks?
1.gif

I am nervous, but more nervous about the delivery than the taking care of two infants thing amusingly enough! I've been entertaining myself with PS and with doing research for my Ph.D. for the most part. Unfortunately all the crafty things I like to do involve furniture refinishing, etc. so I can't really do those things on bedrest!

I read everything. I love a good chick lit book like Emily Giffin, Jennifer Weiner, etc. I also really like mysteries, political books, most things really! I really like reading the New Yorker and the Economist too. And my total guilty pleasure is US Weekly. My mailman must really think I have a split personality.

Is your bedrest preeclampsia related? (sorry if that is too personal!) That's why my sister was on bedrest. How's your hubby at entertaining you right now--play any Scrabble?

Great that you're getting your Ph.D.!

Split personalities are the best kind--you sound very diverse in your reading
9.gif

Really exciting about the twins--what an adventure!

eta: my pup does the same thing--I love it!

I don't mind the question at all. It was because they discovered at an ultrasound that my cervix was pretty short (1.8cm, normal is 3-4) so just as a precaution they put me on modified bedrest. For singletons it is a very good predictor of preterm labor, but not for twins. Some twin moms just get short cervixes from the pressure of two babies, which we now think is what is going on with me because I am almost 36 weeks and it hasn't budged from when they put me on bedrest initially!

This week they have been monitoring me closely for preeclampsia though because my BP was high for me (it's usually really low), but so far all my other tests have been completely clean.

My DH has been great through this, he's going to be a great dad! It's me who is having so much trouble going from being so self-sufficient to having him run the house.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you didn't have to deal with preeclampsia for your whole term. How high is your BP now? Is your bedrest at home? My sister had to stay in the hospital, and it was maddening to her. The short cervix on a twin mom is something I haven't heard of, and it makes a lot of sense.

I can understand having trouble with DH running the show. I know I like things to be done in certain ways, so I definitely feel you there! Your boys are going to be so handsome--you and your DH are such a lovely couple!

I don't know if you've already discussed this stuff on the pregnancy thread, but I'd love to know what you have found the most interesting about pregnancy. Body changes--hormonal changes. I've never been pregnant, and I'd love to know more about your experience.

Let's just say that my DH isn't really "Mr. Neatfreak"! So I have been trying to be very zen about the bathroom not really getting cleaned well, the counters not always being wiped, etc. It's been a good lesson for me that the world won't fall apart if the house isn't clean.

My bedrest is at home, and truthfully it isn't really bedrest as much as house arrest. I can sit up to work, etc. my doctor just didn't want me running around town or doing housework, etc. There's no evidence that bedrest helps in my situation (because I wasn't contracting) so both my doc and I took a very loose approach to it with the idea that it was a good idea to get pressure off my cervix regardless.

As for the pregnancy...let's just say I am NOT one of those women who love being preggo! I think the result is amazing, but between bad m/s for the first 12 weeks and all the pain and body changes now, it hasn't been an easy road. I know a lot of it is because of the twin thing, but it's still been very uncomfortable. As for body changes I've been more ok with it than I thought, I think at least partially because my weight gain has mostly been in the stomach area until just recently and since I'm short I have "looked" pregnant for a long time, which helps a lot mentally. I am at the point though where I am really looking forward to wearing my own clothes again, sleeping through the night (well at least being comfortable for the few moments of shut eye a night I will get!), and coffee and wine! But really, I think it'll all be worth it when I meet my little boys!

In your travels, how did you like Costa Rica? What part did you go to? Don''t laugh, but I saw a trip they were giving away as a prize on wheel of fortune, to this resort there, and I''ve just been bugging the husband ever since, to go. I don''t know if it''ll happen or not, but I''d love to here about your time there.

Your dogs are ADORABLE, neat! Are they poodles? I am not much of a dog person but I love dogs with long poodley hair for some reason...I think because they remind me of cats or something!
3.gif

I also love the movie Love Actually! I got in a friendly debate with gwen about it over in the Hangout thread about holiday movies.
9.gif

I''m super excited for you that you''re having twins! And I love your boys'' names. (Are you going to call them Dex and Max? Either way those names are ADORABLE.) And do you have any idea which baby you''re going to name Maxwell and which baby you''re going to name Dexter? Or will you see which name they look like first?

Hmm...I have more questions for you!

What''s your favorite bag designer and bag?
Favorite color?
Favorite denim brand?
Favorite thing to buy overall?
Favorite book?
ETA also your favorite city/place in the world?

Thanks Thing! We are super excited to be having twins too! I hope our boys are as close as you and your sister! We have named them in utero, Max is Baby A and Dex is baby B. They name them based on where they are, i.e., the twin named Twin A will in all likelihood be born first because it''s lower down.

The dogs are poodle-mutts.
1.gif
Supposedly they are a labradoodle (Teddy) and goldendoodle (Franklin) but who knows how pure of a mix they are because I am sure at least Franklin was from a puppy mill.

What''s your favorite bag designer and bag?- Of things I own, Rebecca Minkoff. Love her bags, I have a preordered Devote Tote in Cranberry that I cannot WAIT to get. Of things I don''t yet own a YSL Muse bag.

Favorite color?-I love color, but if I had to pick one it''d probably be blue.

Favorite denim brand?-Before I got preggers I was loving Anlo...but who knows what my body will look good in afterwards!

Favorite thing to buy overall?-Clothing and jewelry for sure.

Favorite book?-Lately, cookbooks!

ETA also your favorite city/place in the world?- Siena Italy

Hahaha-I love how they call twins A and B. I''m a B myself. My mom still has our tiny baby bracelets that say Lastname A and Lastname B on them...so funny. Watch out-Dex is going to be feisty. Apparently B babies are always the feisty ones! (You probably already knew that!) And I bet they''re going to be little best friends!

P.S. I thought your answer would be RM! She makes such good bags...in the best colors! I know you have some gorgeous bags from her!

I''ll be interested for sure to see who is the feisty one because Max has been the feisty one so far!

You know that is a darn good question where we were...or where we stayed for that matter. That trip was a number of years ago, but I still remember it as one of my favorite trips. The arenal volcano and the hot springs were absolutely incredible, as were the horse rides through the jungle. And the beaches were great too! Sorry I don''t remember more about the details! It was seriously 10 years ago now.

Neatfreak, yay, I am so happy you have a thread (I always enjoy your posts) and wooo hooo you will be at 10k soon!

Hahaha-I know-I meant that I had a hunch it would be RM because I remember you special ordering one of her bags! Funny! Interesting that Max is the feisty one! The theory is that B babies have to fight for food and whatnot in the womb so we're feistier! But maybe your little B baby Dex is a chilled out guy!

P.S. It sounds like you did exactly what I did in Arenal in Costa Rica what with the volcano, hot springs and horses...I did exactly that when I was there!

Awww thanks Skippy! I was so sad I missed you in Chicago, you are one of my favorite PSers! The nursery is as ready as it''s going to be, I''m sure we''ll need to be running out to Target late night to get things we''ve forgotten! It''s really bright blue and green for the most part. That would make sense, Dex is the smaller baby! But I''m not sure he''s fighting for anything, his feet are perfectly positioned to kick the heck out of his brother in there.
3.gif
He is technically the smaller twin, but if the u/s measurements are correct, he''s only smaller by a few ounces.

Well, there aren''t any hard and fast rules about a dissertation in my program. But basically I am writing what''s called a 3 paper dissertation, with the idea that I am writing three independent academic papers that all revolve around the same theme, but it makes more sense than just writing one big long paper and having to disassemble it right after it''s done into a few separate papers to publish them.

Mine focuses on childhood health outcomes and how we measure children''s health. I''m using data from a study I am working on right now, so I need to wait until we are finished collecting before I can really get in there and see what might be interesting.

Is there anything about your study that you''ve found that has really stood out to you, or surprised you? Is it about childrens well being overall, or more specific to sickness and disease?

Sorry if you already discussed this but do you have names already for the babies? How exciting!!! I can't wait to see pictures; I bet you can wait to meet your gorgeous kiddos! You always give great advice in RT, btw!

Well, because we are still in the collection phase (doing interviews) we haven''t found anything yet! The study itself focuses on comparing children in families who spend a lot of time in the medical community (the children have/had cancer) with families who spend normal amounts of time interfacing with the medical system. So it''s more about experiences and perceptions of their own/their child''s health than it is about disease itself.

Yay Neat I love you and miss you and cant wait to see what those boys of yours look like!!!

There''s no ''theme'' but the colors revolve around this pattern that I made crib skirts out of:
That pattern is adorable. Ah, you are one of my favorite; next time I go out we will have to meet up hopefully. You sew? Do you love it? How long have you been doing it? What things have you made? I took up sewing last year and took 2 classes; it is a lot of fun.

Sorry if you already discussed this but do you have names already for the babies? How exciting!!! I can''t wait to see pictures; I bet you can wait to meet your gorgeous kiddos! You always give great advice in RT, btw!

Thanks Skippy! I do **try** to sew, but I''m not terribly talented at it. I do repairs, minor alterations, and easy things like curtains. The most complex thing I do is some reupholstering furniture, but often I have to have my seam ripper at the ready!

The babies'' names will be Dexter Aidan and Maxwell Elliot. And our last name rhymes with plankton for some last name context.

I really feel for you neat! You must be so uncomfortable! I was miserable at the end of my pregnancies, and my babies were little, and there was only 1!
How big do they think the boys are now?

My guess is 6lbs or so? Hard to say because I haven''t had an u/s in a month and there is a large margin of error now...but I can give a better update on it on Tuesday after our u/s if I haven''t had them by then!
