Hey Musey

I love, love, love your ring. It really is beautiful. My question is, do you think it''s your gorgeous Asscher that makes your ring stand out?? I went to Excel diamonds-they have your setting there. They show it with an RB & a princess. By looking at those pics one would never guess you would get your result. Your ring looks very vintage, which is what I love about it. Do you think your setting would look good with a cushion? And millegraining added?

One more question-sorry so many. Does your setting sit high on your finger-or is it low profile? I really like a flush setting. I''m wondering how settings like yours or similar sit on the finger.

Appreciate any feedback you may have.

I hadn't seen it in their site before, so I went and looked... you're right, from those pictures, you would never ever guess what it looks like in person (in my opinion). It looks very different in their pics.

Probably, this thread may help you:

I photoshopped a OMC (similar to cushion in some important ways, face-up shape being one of them) into the setting for Chrono, and I thought it looked nice... but it really is a matter of personal preference. It's hard to know how it will come together until it's all, well, together. Looking back I realize we took a real crap-shoot with the design of my ring, because we'd only seen a princess in it... it could have been a disaster. Well, probably not, but it could have turned out less pretty than it did

As for milgrain, I think the setting could definitely pull it off if you like it, but again - personal preference!

You know, it's all relative... for my taste (I like VERY low-set rings), it does sit a little high. If I had it to do over again, I would have asked them to set it lower, but it is not so high that it bugs me visually. Just a bit high for my klutsy self.

Here's a thread where we talked about setting height, mine among others:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/so-many-solitatires.105852/

There are also some profile shots of my setting from different angles in these thread:

I hope all that helps!

HA! That''s amazing-exactly what I wanted to see. Hmmm.....OMC & cushion. I get confused. Maybe I should start saying OMC b/c that IS what I love.

I adore milgrain but would be afraid to ruin the setting. Definitely something to ponder. But, I agree, I do think it can work with the setting.

I did notice how nicely your band fits next to your e-ring. I guess if it was lower it wouldn''t fit so snugly. Yet another detail to think about.

I hope all that helps!

It did-IMMENSELY! Thank you so much for your time & all of your input.

Very glad to help!

I think that if you love milgrain, you shouldn't be afraid to go for it. I don't think it would ruin the setting at all, it would just make it a bit different feel - and if the 'feel' of milgrain is something that you like then that couldn't be a bad thing!!

You're right about the flush-sitting issue... I don't think it could be set lower and still have a band sit flush. It's about as low as it can be for that... in fact, even with the super-low profile of my band, there's a bit of rubbing between it and my e-ring's prongs.

Oh, and those good old OMCs are TO DIE FOR!!!!

Just stunning. In case you're not already aware, GOG has tons of videos of their diamonds, and it's a great way to compare and contrast shapes. They'll even shoot new comparison videos for potential buyers - awesome. Anyway, here's a video of the "GOG Chunk" (their signature chunky cushion), which sounds like it might be right up your alley!

What a great site! My boyfriend & I had fun checking out the differences in the diamonds. Nice way to kill a Tuesday night.

Thanks Musey.
