I really enjoyed the story of your L
30.gif
VE!
The cartoons also made me laugh, esp the fire escape one! HAH! I''d be one of the ones in the middle.. :)
My DH grew up in Melbourne and moved to the states... where we live now. I hope to be able to visit someday.. there and New Zealand. Have him show me around.
4.gif

What are you MOST passionate about? and why?
Hey tlh,
my apologies I hadn''t seen this sooner hon! I''m veddy veddy bad with this thread, lol...
I''m glad you liked my silly cartoons
9.gif

I hope you can visit here too, I know you are the type of person I''d get along with !

Hrmm...most passionate..thats'' a hard one.!
I''m not sure if it''s MOST, but I am very very passionate and get very enthused about people''s rights..or also right and wrong, injustices.
For example, I get very worked up about consumer rights, and hate seeing people getting taken advantage of by any type of business or corporation etc..
Or also when an injustice is carried out on a citizen by the law or a government - both Fi and I are constantly debating the new drama''s that
seem to come out of the US all the time, like when people are shot by police without due reason (for example the Sean Bell case or that recent one with the transit officer).
38.gif
39.gif

I would get so angry if I lived in the US and had these things in my community! I get very worked up as it is already, lol..
I know it''s a controversial issue and everyone has their views - I am not out to offend anyone. I must admit I have always had very anti-establishment streak
2.gif
, so its possible that may colour my perception, and I readily admit it. But I''m a huge proponent of basically "justice",
in any setting, if that makes sense..?

Thankyou for your question, and I''m sorry it took so very long for me to reply!

Hi AJ. Just wanted to pop over and say that I love your new avatar! Very nice! How''s life treating you?
Hey Jo, thanks for popping in hon! How are you?

Is that the current one with the garnet you are referring to? If so, with any luck that baby should be here in its new Jim Meyer
home very soon!
36.gif

Actually, thats kinda why I reignited this thread - I lost my job yesterday
7.gif

I didn''t really want to do a hangout thread, but did feel like letting my PS mates know. It was very unexpected
and so I''m taking it kinda hard..

I''ve just gone back to uni this past semester, so seeing as I was studying (and Fi also studies and only works part time),
we don''t really have much in the way of savings, so the pressures kinda on straight away....
7.gif

I am determined to pick myself up
and keep going and find another job asap, but my confidence is kinda knocked..
40.gif

I feel kinda bad about having jewellery projects going at the moment, and hope I don''t come to regret it -
But I was half way through doing a ring gift for my mum''s b''day which was important for me to finish.

And Jim had already started work on my ring when I found out - plus I think I would''ve gone nuts if I didn''t
get my JM piece after all this waiting anyhow, lol !

Annyywwaayyyy...sorry to show up after ages with rubbish news, lol !
Apart from this, I am doing really well at University, if anyone would like some good news?!
9.gif

So if any of you reading this feel like throwing some "new job hunt dust" my way, I will def. appreciate it
5.gif

Thanks for "listening"

cheers
AJ.

Oh Gosh, AJ I''m so sorry about your job! Good for you that you''re not giving up and despairing though! I''m sure you''ll get a new, much much much better job! (Speaking of which, I''m sending tons of ''new job hunt dust'' your way!!!)

And that''s great that you''re doing so well at the Uiversity-never doubted it, if I may add!
9.gif
36.gif
That''s what you need to focus on right now IMO. The job offers will surely come. Just keep your chin up! (I''m sure the JM piece will help you with that!

)

Hey skip,
not really sure tbh - Jim said he was starting on it when I spoke to him on the 30th, but I really have no idea how long the process takes -
hopefully soon!
I need a pretty pick-me-up, lol
5.gif

Hey, just thought I''d update for Skip - JM should''ve finished the ring yesterday, and with any luck will be sending
it out today!
36.gif

I''m hoping I can wear it to cheer me up while I job hunt

I am so sorry you lost your job that is terrible, sending you a ton of dust to find a new and better job soon :).

I know you mentioned you are studying (congrats verra exciting :D) have you thought about applying at coles or woollies? They usually hire up pretty big and the pay is not that crap for what you do when your studying (FYI coles pays more :P) - it is fairly flexible with uni as well - having worked at Coles for like 8.5yrs while studying it is an okay job to get you through nothing overly exciting though.

Hey Dee,
thanks for the thoughts and dust.

Tbh, and not dissing those that do it, I think coles or woolies would be a last resort for me
40.gif

Both of my sisters (older and younger) did Coles for a nbr of years, and both had quite bad experiences, so I''m
kinda turned off them..
But thankyou, I do appreciate the suggestion!

I am only at uni part time, as I had it that way to fit in with my last job. Basically I can do up to ~35hrs week without
work affecting uni or vice versa..

I would love to apply for a local govt (council) job like you! But my confidence is a bit down after this week
15.gif

I have a couple options that I am currently making applications for - but I have not been in the position before of
having lost a job instead of having left voluntarily, so I guess I''m kinda finding it weird on how to approach it in interviews etc..
14.gif

I’m so sorry this week sucks I have never lost a job before but I can imagine it would feel like a kick in the guts - but remember you’re a smart and articulate person and who I am sure has many skills that are transferable and wanted by another employer.

As for the coles/woolies thing I understand no offense taken I just thought you might be going to uni full-time and for that kind of thing they are okay.

Gov''t jobs are not that terribly hard to apply for what puts most people off is the selection criteria (but not all of them have them) - which when you break it down is not that daunting, each question has about 3 components and as long as you address components in each section with real life examples your good to go.

Govt jobs are all about the criteria, so when you apply make sure you tick all the boxes (figuratively speaking) - all in all it is pretty straightforward – I don’t know what your assessment criteria for uni looks like but it is no harder then that – so really even though it may look daunting you should have no issues. Honestly if I were I would apply – worst case scenario is you don’t get the job but if you don’t apply then you definitely have buckleys chance. The only thing to remember with the govt is they take for freaking forever to get back to you – my process for this job was pretty fast and it still took them like 2wks to make initial contact and about 2mths for the whole process to complete – for someone who is used to employers contacting her the next day for interviews that was a seriously long wait.

As for what to say…I have no idea I have never been let off before but I would be honest about it – sometimes things happen, if it were a mistake from your part (not saying it is) I would turn into a positive - how you learned from that experience and have grown, if it was something you couldn’t help then there is nothing much you could have done to stop it and therefore can’t be the one to blame.

I really wish you the best of luck finding another job, there is the perfect one for you out there I am sure.

Hey Dee,

thankyou for all the advice on the govt jobs, I appreciate your time and effort
35.gif

Bruddah I am so sorry to hear this, but you will find something even better!
35.gif

Your welcome :), good luck with the job search :).

Sorry to hear about the job AJ. I know that something better will come along soon.

Hey you guys,
thanks so much Bruddah Lozza, Dee and Bee* for the support *hugs*

Gaaaahhh! I hate Aust. Customs!! **stomps foot**

My JM ring has been here, in my city since yesterday - but Customs won't release it until I send them
like 7 different documents proving the value of the ring for import taxes sake - you would think the invoice inside
the package from the jeweller would be enough, but no
20.gif
29.gif

So now I will have to wait until at least next thurs or fri for it to be processed and delivered, due to the Easter break
7.gif

I still have no idea what my ring even looks like ! And I don't like the idea of it sitting around a customs
warehouse for a week, while they probably try on my ring
39.gif
40.gif
(kidding..sort of)
2.gif

Yes I know I sound pretty nuts, lol..
ok, crazy rant over!

ugh that''s rubbish! I hope that you get it soon! It''s such a pity it''s the long weekend.
