That''s great that you''re going back to college
36.gif
36.gif
I went back at 24 to do another 5 years
14.gif
(after originally doing 4 years of Science) but I''m half way through so can see light at the end of the tunnel! It''s great going back and getting to do something that you''re interested in.

Thanks for stopping by Bee!

Sounds very similiar to my situation - I have about 2 yrs f/t to finish my bachelor, but will take longer as can only afford to go p/time
7.gif

Then one more year if I decide to do the Dip Ed.

Thats great that you can see the finish line, I imagine its a good feeling. I don''t remember reading, do you mind telling what you''re studying/what career you want?

You''ll get there-it does seem to take forever though doesn''t it?! I just want to be qualified and earning money like all my friends are! I went back to do Veterinary so unfortunately we don''t get any time off for having a science degree. Oh well, we''ll get there eventually!
Really? No credit at all for your previous degree?

I''m sure you''ll love being a Vet though..

Yup, we''ll have to have a celebratory thread for graduates me thinks !

Nope not a bit unfortunately. We only have one college in the whole of Ireland though for veterinary so I think they can kind of do what they like. If I''d applied for medicine I would only have had to do four years! I do love working with animals though so roll on graduation! We''ll definitely need a celebration thread for graduates! If I ever get through this year

! Are you getting nice weather in Perth at this time of year? I''d love to see it when it''s really warm.

Yeah, sounds very much like my situation.
I''m going to start back in with 2 units only and see how I go - if I manage ok I''ll try 3 next.

I''ve just done enrolment earlier this week, and thankfully it turned out perfectly with the units I wanted - both have lectures and tuts in the evenings. And I made sure I chose stuff that sounds interesting to get back into it, no business computing for me, lol !
3.gif

I''m hoping I won''t be too tired/grumpy etc going after work though !
40.gif

Do you mind Joflier if I ask what kind of work you do?
That''s good that its mostly evening things. That should work out well.

And I don''t mind you asking at all. I''m a radiologic technologist (xray tech). And I''m looking at becoming a physicians assistant (if I ever get my butt in gear about it).

Wow, only one college? Ya, never good when someone has a monopoly.
But at least you are pursuing something you are passionate about.

I think thats my problem, haven''t found something yet I''m passionate about and can earn a living with ! I''d love to study gems (of course), but that would be something I''d do as a side-thing when I''m a bit older I think. Be fun to be an appraiser though I reckon..?

I will officially have a celebration thread for you when you graduate, and of course you will, I bet you''re doing great.

Its really warm here now - its ok, a bit humid though. It''ll be reeaall hot on Christmas again
40.gif

I must go somewhere for a white chrissie one year..I''m loving all the snow pics in Hangout at the moment, I''ve never seen any.

I had a CT scan the other week, my lady was so nice. I''m sure you''re a lovely one like that ! Shame about the dunce receptionists though - they lost my xrays for 2 days
40.gif
Do you have dunce receptionists, or are they okay? lol..

So excited, I received my OEC pendant today !!

I will post about it tomorrow in SMTR, verrry pretty

Ok, so as of this weekend I promise to tell some more interesting stories...right now I''m having too much fun watching "Extras" (Ricky Gervais). Anybody else love that man''s comedy?

Can''t wait to see your pendant too!

Congrats on the OEC pendant AJ!! How excited are you?

So it's actually warm in Perth now. We are having a crazy coldish and more astoundingly wetish summer over here so far. Not complaining as it has been know to get to 47C here in summer.

I remember Christmas was always very hot in Perth and everyone I knew insisted on having the full cooked lunch. What do you have planned with your family?

Oh and to answer your earlier question - my husband's commute is a killer - trains planes and automobiles, the whole lot (including the red eye flight from Perth), but such is life.

Awwww.....your sweet. I try to be very empathetic and kind. Unless my patient is rude or mean. Or perverted. That happens far too often. Then I have to get my biotch face on.
I haven''t done CT in a few years since I worked in a hospital. Now I''m at a clinic, and I mostly just do general xrays. More fun, I think! Did you have to drink some lovely contrast juice?
2.gif

Ya know, we have a few dunce people running amuk. They ususally don''t last too long though, thankfully! Sometimes its like, if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself.

For PA, I need to complete my bachelors and then do a 2 year masters (graduate school) program. So its a lot to swallow. And a lot of $$ too! And I''m really happy with what I''m doing at the moment........so.......in some ways, its kinda like - if it ain''t broke, don''t fix it!

Yay for your OEC pendant! I have to go travel over to SMTR and check it out!

I know, pretty daggy huh..

You know what, as soon as I said that, this morning its raining too !
To be honest, so far it has been a weird summer too. Really hot and humid during the day, then pelting down rain at night. Weird. Don''t know what others think, but I believe the weather is definately changing in alot of ways.

Yep, we will be doing the whole big xmas, stuff-yourself-silly lunch ! My mum and older sis are good cooks. So we will apprarently have a 3-4 course meal (turkey, ham, lamb, seafood), and then a couple different desserts, and of course lots of beer and wine
11.gif

It is hot, but somehow you always manage to eat alot still, lol..

We''ve had quite abit of conflict in our family in the last couple years..long stories, but my younger sis married a guy nobody liked or approved of - no one but my folks was invited to the wedding, and only barely them
40.gif

And older sis and I had a falling out.
So it will be the first Chrissie we are all together in 2 yrs I think - including lil sis''s husband, who we can''t stand. So fingers crossed everyone keeps their manners, lol..

I got a text from my mum when she decided to put on lunch this year - I think it was something along the lines of "You all have to agree to be civil to each other, there are no gifts, and I''m not doing the washing up after"..

I thought it was a crackup, I responded like "Don''t make it sound so fun mum !"..she''s alright.

Yup, dysfunctional family xmas, gotta love it, lol..

I''ve been wanting to post some of these funny cartoons that I''m so enamoured with right now, but was concerned they may be a bit "risque" for Hangout.
Hopefully you guys like ''em, as they sum up my sense of humour quite well..

There were better ones I would''ve liked to post, but they had swearing in them

Ok, so for Adis, the story of Fi and I (so far..)
2.gif

Boy, where do I start? I know some of this will likely sound like a cliche, but I'll try hard to do it justice..

G and I have known each other for a long time, since we were 13 or so (we're both currently 25). We went to different High Schools, but we were good mates and always went to the same parties, concerts, clubs, had all the same friends, interests etc.
He has always been my closest male friend. A confidant, a mate, someone I really cared for and trusted. I could talk to him about anything - my family, my boyfriends, whatever the drama of the day was
2.gif
All those "problems" you have when you're a teen that seem so huge, and he would always listen and give me genuine and straight up advice.
We also always had a ton of fun whenever we hung out - we were mischievious and flirtatious towards each other. There was always a strong attraction and sexual tension between us too.
2.gif

However, it was always a good friendship and we had great respect for each other. We used to have fantastic intellectual conversations, and are very similiar in our beliefs about religion, ethics, education and so on.
Although there was that attraction there, it was never one of those frienships with a guy where you know he's just waiting for the time to crack on to you though, I'm sure all the ladies can relate
40.gif

Even though he probably knew I was fond of him, he never tried anything on. We were both in committed r'hips, so this just made my respect and trust for him grow.
So, for all of H.S thats how it stayed, friends. He had a long-term girlfriend (N.Z) for many years, and I had a couple of "serious" r'ships.

Fast forward, H School has ended. G has finally broken up with N.Z (that was a very poisonous r'ship, but thats a story for another time), and he has gone to live in the UK for ~year, and is due back soon
I have been in 2 or 3 r'hips over the years, the last of which was very bad news, and I was in a pretty upset/damaged/confused way...but was getting over it, and looking forward to my 21st b'day (this was 2004).

I had a big party organized for my 21st, hiring 2 floors at a local nightclub where one of mine and my friends favourite US hip-hop groups were playing on the night of my b'day (great 21st BTW
3.gif
). I invited G, looking forward to seeing him and catching up for the first time in about a year and half. If I'm being honest, I was excited about my party, but I was even more excited to see G again. Its not like I "expected" something to happen, its just that he was never far from my mind and heart over the years.

Well, it turns out G felt the same way
9.gif
It was perfect - we were both finally single, it was a party - we hung out together all night, then we continued back to a friends house, where the party continued into the morning.
We were still just flirting at this stage, enjoying each others company and having fun.
Later that day, as the party ppl dispersed, he invited me to come hang out at his mates place instead of heading home. Of course, I was all too happy to oblige, lol..
His mate had a great apt. at the time with a view of the beach - usually 3 guys lived there, but today they were all out.
It was a nice sunny day (my b'day is in Winter), we'd had a great night.

I don't remember exactly how it happened, but I know that "the first kiss" was a mutual thing - neither of us made the first move. We were just cuddling on the couch and talking all morning, then we were kissing
5.gif
It was competely natural and comfortable, and of course I think he's a great kisser
27.gif

It was pretty awesome, as this was a guy I'd had a strong attraction and sexual tension with for over 6 years ! And from all the talking, I found out pretty quickly he'd always had the same feelings for me.

I know its cheesy, but we had both always thought the other was *the one*
emembarrassed.gif
But both of us had always just been too proud/stubborn to speak our minds to the other..
We are extremely alike. Infact so much, that our closest friends used to say he was "the male version of me", and vice versa..I get along really well with his closest mates, and he's always known and been close to my best girlfriends.
So to this day, if you ask him he says I invited him to my b'day in order to hook in.
20.gif
And I will say that he came as he was after me..yes, we are both very proud and stubborn, ha !

From that day forward, we were "together", there was no question. It was just completely *right*.
Once our close friends found out, they said things like "About time, you two have been flirting for Years !!"..so apparently our attraction was not as secret as we assumed, lol..

We did have some dramas with his ex (N.Z) at first. Even though they'd been broken up for a couple years and both had other flings inbetween G and I, she was a very jealous and odd girl (long story).. She and I had been friends previous, but all I'll say is not any longer
40.gif

She tried very hard to break G and I up for the first couple months, it was really strange..
38.gif

Even though she had treated him real bad for much of the time they were together, all of a sudden she decided she wanted him back and still loved him
20.gif
She would try to crack onto G and invite him places constantly, even after our r'ship was made"official"...So there was a number of times I had to lay down the law with her..
It was an unwelcome challenge early on, but it only served to make mine and G's r'ship stronger, which is great.

Of course since than there have been more serious trials than that, but early on we found we could deal with problems honestly and well as a team, which I'm happy to say has continued.
5.gif

Sorry this has been so long, and thats just the "getting together" bit, lol !

I will be happy to continue with the engagement bit and all later, if people are not asleep after reading this, ha !

1.gif

What a great story! Sounds like it was a match made in heaven
2.gif
And I don''t think it''s cheesy at all, that you always thought the other was The One; I firmly believe there''s someone out there, who was born just to be with you and you know deep in your heart that''s your mate. There was an interesting book about previous lives and it claimed you and your partner are destined for each other and you searh for your other half every time you''re born. Sometimes you find him and sometimes you don''t, but when you do find each other, you know it''s him/her right away (love at first sight anyone?). I believe that''s true since I experienced it myself
9.gif

It''s so interesting that you two are so much alike. According to my soul mate theory (yes, I have one and I''m ready to annoy people with it anytme!
3.gif
) the most passionate, powerful and epic (if I may quote Logan from the show "Veronica Mars") love stories occur between partners that are either very, very much alike or complete and absolute opposites. Since DH and I are the second case, your story turns out to support my theory, AJ
1.gif

Btw, I really enjoyed the cartoons. Especially the one with The incredible sulk. My favourite football player is Berbatov from Manchester Utd and that''s actually his nickname - The incredible sulk (he''s got quite a character, the moody devil! lol).

Hey Adis
35.gif

I hope you had a lovely Chrissie.
1.gif

I am happy to help prove your soulmate theory, very sweet.

And I''m glad you liked my cartoons, I think they''re so funny, but then again me and Fi both have pretty *original* sense of humour.

Had a lovely Christmas, Chrissie eve was spent with Fi''s immediate and extended family at his aunts'' home. They have a (pretty new) baby, 19mth/old lil girl, so she was constant entertainment for everyone. She just loves Fi, but then most lil kids do, he''s like a pied piper to ''em..
20.gif

Xmas morn we went to Fi''s parents home for brunch and to do gifts, then for lunch we headed to my folk''s house with my sisters and grandma etc.

My mum put on an incredible spread - she always does, but she''s a bit ill at the moment, so it was even more impressive than usual.
I''m still full now, lol.

Good thing I won a couple mths mbrship at a local gym in a competition recently!

Hey AJ! Did you have great holidays? Lots of presents? Parties? Violent hangover? You know, the whole package
9.gif

And a big "hmpf!" at the food part. These mothers, grannies, aunties and cousins of all sort are really trying their best to make us look like elephants around the holidays, don''t they? We visited almost all of my relatives (DH doesn''t get along with his own family so we don''t visit them) and they all insisted we eat everything they served us with. I mean, come on, how many portions of turkey, potatoes, salads, Christmas loafs and pies can a 115 lb girl eat?!
