I am left handed. When I was in kindergarten, the teacher tried to make me become right handed by snatching the pencil or crayon out of my left hand and putting it in my right hand. My mother put a stop to that very quickly.

I think a lot of us had that experience (my grandmother, mother and I all did)! My son (11) is left handed and luckily, that practice no longer occurs.

I don't wrap my hand like that! I write "straight" when I write!

But I can also write with my right hand. I base it on how my desk is situated. You can't read it either way, though... We have TONS of lefties in my family. I mostly write left, but I am more dominant with my right.

Another leftie! My grandmother was a leftie, my brother is ambidexterous. My FIL is a leftie, and also had the experience of them trying to make him a righty (didn't work).

Other than the desks with the tiny surface on the right side, lack of left-handed scissors, and the annoyance of pen pencil work smeared because of going left to right on the page, can't say I had too many issues with it.
I use regular scissors, bowl and play tennis right-handed.

Can someone just find me a pen that won't smear as I move across the page?

I'm pretty much good with all right handed gadgets now. It was tricky when growing up but now I've adjusted.

Ahh the old pen smudge issue, so many of us southpaws who wanted to become teachers had their dreams of becoming a teacher shattered because of that issue

I'm much the same with right handed gadgets as well. I play bass guitar and electric guitar right handed which I believe is actually more advantageous as my left hand is doing the more technical movements - but I also throw/kick a ball and swing a bat right handed.

I am a leftie....I also dont curve my hand around I write straight...but I only use my left hand for some things, most things I do right handed or I can use either hand....its weird.

Another lefty.. I also don't curve my hand though I can if I really have no choice! I can ALSO use my right hand if I have no other choice. I was told that was very unfair, especially when it comes to certain types of games. Just call me a special snowflake

I'm a lefty too, and growing up, always wrote cursive straight up & down to avoid smearing and to deal with spiral notebooks, etc. I write and eat lefty, but am otherwise ambidextrous.

My husband is also a lefty, but a true one: all sports equipment, guitars, curved hand when writing, etc.

Our kids are righties lol.
