How sad

. Their couture was amazing..

While I get so disappointed when I see something like this, my hope is for designers to make their fashion a little more attainable for the masses. I know it''s art but I think art should be available to more than just the wealthy.

I beg to differ. If every house starts offering a label that is attainable for the masses then what is the point?

What about Target and Kohl''s who''ve offered lines by many famous designers. Target will introduce Jean Paul Gaultier''s line this spring...Vera Wang has been available at Kohl''s for a few years now.

I have to agree with monarch.

I think it''s all about choices here. Some designers (such as the ones monarch mentioned above), have made the choice to make their designs more available to the masses.

I would assume, for some designers, selling their "art" at the same store you can buy your produce would be an insult of sorts, KWIM?

Very sad.Iagree that their couture was true art and the influence of YSL can be seen thruogh out their past collections.Who will be next?

I think you guys are right. I think I got a little fashion envy by looking at all the fashion I can''t afford. I have an art degree so I should no better that all art can''t be sold at the same price point without lowering the quality.

Find yourself a damn good seamstress and have her copy things for you!

ETA: also, A.B.S. is a brand, I believe, that re-creates red-carpet dresses. They sell for $100's instead of $1000's!
