I am considering buying a diamond online and have this question:
Is looking at the measurements an accurate way to compare the size or how the diamond "faces up'"? For example, I am looking at two oval diamonds, one is 1.06ct measurements: 7.93x5.67x3.58 and the other is 1.01 ct measurements: 7.77x5.91x3.60, does this mean the 1.01 diamond would actually look bigger?

the 1.06 will be more elongated (ratio of 1.4) than the 1.01 (ratio of 1.3) somewhere there is a neat tool that lets you play around with ratios and see what they will look like, but I can't seem to find it! also I would suggest asking to move this to RockyTalky

Yeah, I second moving to Rocky Talky.

Also it's not unheard of for people to make paper cut outs of stones they are considering and taping them to their fingers (or their ears).

It sounds funny, but it works.

For what you are considering:
One will look skinnier and slightly longer one will look fatter, a little shorter but wider.
