Buying a Lucida on Craigslist?

I saw this post on Craigslist selling a Tiffany''s Lucida ring, .35 carats, F, VVS1. The seller is asking for $1000 and is willing to meet me at Tiffany''s to get the ring verified. What do you guys think? Good deal? Too high? Possibly fake?

I'm not sure how much a new lucida in that size goes for so I'd find out first. But hey, if the price is good, and the seller's willing to get it verified, sure- you have nothing to lose.

I went to Tiffanys website and the .25 ring is $1680 and the .5 is $3400. So the .35 should be somewhere in between.

Does anyone know if Tiffany''s will actually be willing to look at the ring and determine its authenticity?

I''d call them and ask. I have heard of them doing this, but have never done it myself...

I would just make sure you take your husband or other male with you and don't wear any other jewelry. I'm sure the person is fine, but I would just be very cautious.

If you have a Tiffany in town, you could consider meeting there and getting it verified together.

ETA: And if I read your original post more closely, I would have known that's exactly what you're doing. D'oh! Great minds, I guess!

I think it sounds like a good deal, and if Tiff''s will verify on the spot, it should eliminate the possibility of fakery, so ... yeah, good deal! Then it becomes a question of, do you like *this specific Lucida,* which is as it should be. I say go for it ....
