MMM, when i first read the article yesterday, i didn''t think much about it but then it started to nag me so i reread it today....and it pissed me off.

just because she has $$$ she thinks she shouldn''t have to go to a shelter. she used up her reservation and now doesn''t want to leave because she has $$$. well, the next person made a reservation and has $$$ and is escaping new orleans also. if it comes to $$$, does it mean the more you have the more right you have to be in the motel and not a shelter? why isn''t she just plain grateful she got to have a bed and take a shower for two nights before having to move on? what about the people behind her that haven''t had that opportunity? why is she complaining? she''s lucky to be alive with her family and not having to live like these folks:

its her business if she has $$$ or not but 1-she used up her reservation 2-the next person has their reservation in place and also has $$$ and is coming out of new orleans as well...and they will have safety and security issues as well.

i''m not saying that she must learn something, i''m hoping she will: like how to share and not be self-centered.

if she really has an issue with having to go to a shelter, take it up with her elected congressional officials who might next time make sure there is enough food/water/shelter/transportation/troops/etc. to take care of any necessary evacuation and the aftermath of an emergency.

I don''t see anything unusual in the actions of the hotel.

I travel enough on business - and extend my business trips- that I deal with this all the time.

It is not uncommon for my to find hotels that cannot accomondate the last night of a multinight stay when making reservations because they are already booked. About 1/3 of the time when a trip runs long and I ask to stay an additional day I am told no because they are already booked.

This may be a state to state thing - but here - the hotel can not evict you. They can not make you leave. Something to do with homestead act.
