But the downside to being a PSer is....

Once I asked him to buy me a bag of jasmine rice. The same jasmine rice we have been eating forever (we are asian we like our rice). He came home with 10 kilos of sticky glutinous rice and packed it away.

I remember ringing him the next day at work after I discovered it when I was trying to make rice for dinner: Why do you do this to me? It's like you hate me and do this on purpose. What am I supposed to do with 10kgs of sticky rice? Where will I store it? I'm going to have to invent recipes to deal with this. Why???????

We are down to the last 3kgs!!!!!!!

We were very lucky to have trusted jewelers- a husband and wife team. One specialized in colored stones and the other diamonds and precious metals. Since 1977 I always bought from them. They retired, moved away and now are gone. Reading PS posts discussing cut, color, quality, origin, setting quality, etc. I am still so happy with our purchases. I wish I had bought more! Now after PS, I am a bit freaked to buy diamonds and precious colored gems. For example, I read about trade definitions of a "diamond", "natural", "synthetic" or "man -made" 'enhanced" or treatments such as glass filled, oils, resins, may not be what I thought of previously. The discussions of gem certificates, gem labs and fakes really have made me weary. Also the variable pricing of these goods whether retail, wholesale, BigBox Brick/Mortar, point of origin, internet, small shops and tourist hot spots. I LOVE PS as I learn so much. But, it really makes me hesitant to buy any big ticket item. That being said, any contemplated purchase would be first vetted by PS as I truly value the opinions, expertise and candor of the posters.

We love Jasmine rice too. Once my DH brought home parboiled rice. I was like WTH. Do you expect me to eat this? Lol.

The downside to Pricescope is wanting so much more beautiful jewellery, but lacking enough fingers, earlobes, necks and wrists, time and occasions to wear it all. :mrgreen2:

@mellowyellowgirl When my husband and I were newly dating, he came over to my house. He was mortified to see Minute Rice in my panty. You see, he had an honest to goodness rice cooker, something I had never seen before, and a big tub of jasmine rice. That’s when we realized what we hadn’t before. We were an inter-RICE-al couple. :lol-2: (We are also interracial, but that’s secondary to the rice thing. LOL!)

Downside to PS is as my grannie used to say "my eyes are bigger than my belly". Seeing and wanting so many pieces and gems but not having the 'belly of funds' I need to fulfill my wanting. :Up_to_something::shifty:

Exactly! Today I just feel I need to re-set my original E-ring. I just NEED to do it. This need of course did not arise until after I visited PS today. Such a dangerous time for me since I cleared all my CC debt and finished needed home improvements. Maybe I'll throw some rings on LT to obtain the funds since acquiring debt for another ring is something I want to stay away from. Why does jewelry make me so insane?

My problem now is what do I get for him? My gifts have gotten more expensive since I caught the gemstone bug. My husband has everything he needs. :-)

Heck no, you're not alone.

I was just thinking about that yesterday. How I miss the days of him picking something out for me and surprising me.

...sometimes I miss them too, but then I recall the s*itty engagement ring and all the other s*itty gifts and sadness magically disappears!!!

Hah. My partner is back in school to pursue a different career so I fund all my own bling and our expenses in general. I imagine even in the future when he makes enough money to buy bling, he’ll be too scared to try after witnessing all my obsessiveness over cuts and colors and fabrication details. Literally all my jewelry is custom. He wouldn’t even know where to go to buy my something since he’s never seen me go into a jewelry store.

It doesn’t bother me at all that he doesn’t buy me things. He does basically all of the cleaning, grocery shopping and cooking and takes care of chores to maintain the house and car. I can’t wear it on my finger but oh my goodness does it make me so so happy not to have to do those things after work. He jokes that he’s my 1950s housewife. Now if only HE could be the one to go through pregnancy...

Mine has never bought me any because he knows I prefer to chose my own.

But the downside to being a PSer is

I have thought about this question some more and come to the conclusion that there is no downside to being a PSer (for me). None whatsoever.

I have made amazing friendships here that will last a lifetime and yes made some mishaps along the way but isn't that all part of the journey of life anyway?

And each mishap and "mistake" is a stepping stone (haha..stone) to the one that is meant to be if you believe in that. As is with each relationship that doesn't work out be it friendships or bling and along the way I have experienced both here. But each misstep has lead me to true friends (and I do not use that word lightly) and bling that will be forever and for that I am truly grateful.

PS is no doubt one of my favorite places to hang out and I regret nothing here. So a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who makes PS a wonderful place to be.

:kiss2:
