Bret Favre has announced he is retiring.
Some feel he was one of the best quarterbacks ever.
Some feel he was over-rated and just average.
Some loved him.
Some hated him.
In the end, as a lifelong Packer fan (i.e. Cheesehead): I am not sad to see him go - he has achieved something that few Professional athletes have ever achieved. The ability to quit when he could still perform, and quit on his terms. His records (including his interception record) will stand for a long time.
The things I will miss most are his outright humanity and humility, and his obvious love of the game. Those are items that will never be in a record book. How many other football players had so much fun when playing. It was obvious, it was exciting, and to me it was what made Bret special.
And so, with pride and applause in my heart... Goodby Bret. May you and your family have a peaceful and fulfilling retirement.
For those who wonder what this has to do with pricescope: Not all diamonds are made of crystallized carbon.
