I went to the Chicago Filene''s dress thing in July & found my dress. I wasn''t expecting to find anything, but wanted to look anyway. Mom came up from FL. My wedding''s over a year off, so I was just browsing. It''s a "mermaid-y/fit-flare" design. A funny thing: it''s the first dress I tried on, and I was like "YUCK! It looked so nice but it looks like CRAP on me." Then I pulled the skirt back a little because the flare was too low and BOOM, it looked INSTANTLY better. I was sold once I did that.
I didn''t have the super teary-eyed moment, but I definitely like it. My mom is TOTALLY loving it. We''ll probably add straps to it, maybe 1/2" thick, wide set and cross in the back. I''m just not a big fan of strapless. Any other suggestions for the alterations?
Random question, Why is it that wedding dresses only look really amazing when you''re standing on a pedestal?? Does that mean that FI is going to have to put me up on a pedestal Ha ha! Just kidding. Here''s 2 pics for side-by-side comparison. Not on stand, on a stand. On the ground it''s nice, but when I''m standing on a pedestal it ROCKS! I hope the alterations will make it look that good...
