 Soooo I just realized my DH and I will be in Boston when the Intergem Show is there.. I've never been to one. For those that have can you tell me what it's like.. I want to try and talk DH into taking the time to go over one afternoon for a couple hours to look around..so I need a sales pitch. :naughty:

We are there from a Wednesday 7/4 until Sunday morning.. We did manage to get baseball tickets.. so we are doing something he really wants to do.. (me too.. but I will use this as leverage :Up_to_something: )...

Thanks!!!

bump bump... anyone... Is it like a consumer home show.. only with jewels? I have to had a good reason to get my DH to go with me...

I went to my first intergem a couple weeks ago... it was fun. Lots of pretties to look at. I spent everything I had to my name on a pair of earrings :cheeky: My FI went with me, and I think he actually caught some diamond fever! But he did get bored of walking around and looking at similar things over and over again. We made it through in the end though. Have fun if you go!

I know nothing but the intergem show, but i will be watching, because im interested in going! (sorry im of no help) And since i'm relatively new here, i was wondering, do they sell loose pink sapphires there?

And if he gets to see the red sox, then you should def get to go to intergem!

The gem show is actually in Marlborough which is about an hour or so outside of the city.

I've been to the July show once and found that it wasn't as well attended by gem/jewelry dealers as the spring and fall shows. There were a lot more bead and non-jewelry sellers there.

What you will find there are:

loose gem sellers
settings sellers
finished jewelry sellers, mostly stock kind of settings but some custom places too
antique jewelry sellers
bead sellers (lots of these)
pearls sellers
mineral/fossil sellers
costume jewelry sellers
non-jewelry sellers (handbags, scarves, sunglasses)

There's also a trade section which you can only get into if you're in the trade or if someone in the trade will let you use their tax id to fill out a reseller certificate.

If your husband doesn't want to be dragged out of the city then take him to the jewelers building on Washington street.

Dang.. I was going check that... before I made my final decision... that will be a deal killer... we are not getting a car... just using public transportation.. so I will just visit the jewelry stores downtown... now looking for suggestions for that little mission....

GemFever.. you were what inspired me to check their schedule..they just don't get to Florida...

Mayk,

Sorry to hear they don't come to Florida, and that you probably won't go to the Boston one. Hmm... maybe you should schedule a trip to the Nation's Capital sometime when Intergem is in town. Everybody needs to see a bit of DC every now and then, right? :D Then get a zip car, and off you zoom to Intergem! Though I do have to say, the one in National Harbor was a 40 min drive for me. And the one coming up in Chantilly, VA, will also be a 40 min drive. They don't make it easy :|

Also, I have to say... I think if you're going to make a special trip anywhere to see stones, I'd say go to New York. Also a great touristy destination ;) But you'll see way more stones, way more jewelry, and way more antique dealers in New York than you would at Intergem, I think. I think I just got lucky on my visit. The sellers I chanced upon seemed to be the only really nice Vintage jewelry sellers at the show.

We just got back from DC but with two teenagers in tow.. I would rather have a tooth pulled then shop with those girls...they have the patience of a rattlesnake with a headache... when I shop for me.. now when you shop for them.. it's a totally different story!!!

We are headed by to DC in mid-June.. without the girls for a couple days.. but no Intergem when we are there...
