It is incredibly hard. In fact psychologists tell us that we give our subconscious around 60,000 instructions a day - 70% of which are negative or redundant (and often denigrating to ourselves).JewelFreak said:It's a shame our times are so concerned with the superficial -- & internalizing that stuff is hard to resist when you see it all day, every day. I wish girls -- and now boys -- could realize that most of the "perfection" they see is not real.
So true. Figuring out that we are worthy, we are enough and loving ourselves for who we are is growth worth striving for and is often one of our hardest lessons. It doesn't mean we can't improve/change some things about ourselves if we want but as the saying goes, if we compare ourselves to others, we usually come off second best. I like to think of it as being comfortable in your own skin....and I'm still a Work in ProgressEven when I was a teenager, internal growth was part of the drill. It should be again: surviving life requires much more than prettiness..
