That infomercial guy found dead at home...50 y/o.

His voice got on my nerves.

I just read this too when I logged on to my computer! How sad

Oh, wow...that''s sad...too many deaths lately!

I saw him just yesterday in a commercial having to do with healthcare and I thought to myself, "wow he must be making a ton of $ since they use him to sell anything and everything."

His voice was annoying but for some reason it always caught my attention anyway.

Mom called me a bit ago, said she''d heard it but wasn''t sure if it was true, or what happened.

What happened?!?

Sounds like a concussion. . . bad week to be a celeb.

RIP

Probably a slow bleed inside his head... terribly sad!

For some weird reason, this death made me more sad than MJ''s. He just seemed to be a truly warm and generous person with a great sense of humor. I liked watching him on "Pitchmen." And the commercials he did for ESPN were hilarious.

I have watched television only a handful of times since my daughter was born (16 years ago) and have never seen even such shows as "Seinfeld", so I do not have any idea who this person is. I only knew who Ed McMahon was because I used to watch television before my daughter was born or I wouldn't have known who he was any more than Lorelei did!

The day that Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died my husband and daughter left for a weekend in New York City. I managed to turn on the televsion (a feat rendered monumental by the number of remote controls in that room...when we watch a DVD or a film on VHS my husband or daughter runs it!). I was astounded by the number of commercials! I am just not used to television!

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Addendum: I just read the story. What a tragedy! This story has nothing to do with what he did for a living. It is yet another story of a head injury (like the one that claimed the life of Natasha Richardson) that seemed to allow the person to function after an injury but was silently killing him. Or, at least that is how it sounds. Reading this made me very sad.

It''s just so sad for his family. One just never know when he/she will be called back home.

Many a night I would fall asleep with the TV on and wake up to his voice..hehe..it was definitely distinctive.

I also thought of Natasha Richardson when I heard he had been hit in the head the day before he died... It''s not enough to brush off any head injury, any accident like that, which seems harmless at the time, obviously, they can become dangerous quickly. His voice annoyed me too, but he seemed like a great guy and I am sad he died in such a tragic way.

Very sad.

Me too...I know nothing about Billy Mays other than his commercials...maybe it''s because he''s more of a "regular" person?

Wow, wow, wow...

My DH and I watch "Pitchmen" on discovery all the time...

So shocking. So sad. My heart and prayers are with his family.

I didn't know he had his own show until DD told me, she said it was great. Very said for his family and his friends.... My heart goes out to them.

How sad. Condolences to his family. His TV show Pitch It, was not too bad.

Very sad for his family and friends. So many celebrity deaths, very sad.

he always annoyed me on the TV.
But still it is a tragedy for his family, my heart goes out to them.

This is so completely sad. So random. So tragic. So unexpected.

He was so young. That he died so young, from something so random is just heartbreaking to me. What if he had taken another flight. Sat in another seat. Flew to another city. Or, had seen a doctor.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. May he be remembered kindly as a voice we all knew.

so sad

DITTO! I was so sad yesterday when I heard this! I love ''Pitchmen''.

It was weird watching him pitch OxiClean this morning on a commercial. I was wondering if they''d pull his commercials, but I guess not

I hadn''t thought of this. I wonder if they''ll air another epidode or two of Pitchmen since they record them a bit ahead of time?

It is really sad... although I too must admit, his voice got on my last raw nerve!

DD once asked (when she was very young), "MOM!!! WHY IS HE ALWAYS YELLING???!!!!!"

Ditto this. He just seemed like a really sweet man.

So sad. We were just getting into the show "Pitchmen." Sounds like he died of an epidural hematoma.

They are now saying he most likely died of a heart condition. So sad, he was so young.
