Big interview today

How did it go BTW?

DK :))

Thank you ALL so much for the unwavering support. It seriously made me feel better heading in to the whole day!

Whether I get it it or not - I know I have cheerleaders in my corner and I learned a lot!

I’ll let you know of the status - they said I’ll hear sometime next week!

Sorry I've had a day not connected to the net
this is so excitting
I bet you did awsome
fingers crossed for you

Now i need to go back a few and see what you got yourself

I understand why moving further out from the city can make all the difference for quality of life! I am about to make a similar move…I live in Chicago although it’s not nearly as expensive, I’ve lived in NYC and know how ridiculous cost of living can be

Appreciate you asking. Overall, I think it went very well. There was one interviewer who had a real poker face and laid lots of traps for me. I couldn’t tell if she liked my answers or not, and she asked very specific questions.

If anyone marks me as “no” it’ll be her. The presentation and other interviews went great.

They said I’ll hear next week! Phew! I’ll be anxiously checking my email every few hours until then!

Thank you so much. I’ve decided…if I get this job, I’ll proceed with getting my engagement ring reset started!

Otherwise, I may get a little pair of studs while I save up for a special necklace using an small heirloom diamond

Only good choices to pick from!

Good luck and anyone who says that they are good with interviews are about to do great in my eyes!

My interview story is a bit recently since I actually lost my job at the peak of the pandemic - the startup that I was working for no longer had the budget to keep me and removed the role altogether. And even though I am Canadian and things are a bit easier for me working in the US, that still meant that if I don't find a job in a couple of months, I needed to pack my bags and go back to Canada during the pandemic, which piles on a lot of stress other than having to stay at home and not being able to go anywhere at the time! Not to mention that so many people lost their jobs during that time, the resources were scarce and it seemed like the competition was fierce. I felt like I didn't know what I was doing and that I was going up against many, MANY capable and wonderful people! Thankfully it worked out for me in the end and I love my new job :)

I think at the end of the day, if they don't pick you for some reason, it always works out for the best because they haven't really appreciated your value yet! I also had a long and arduous interview process and the later it is in the game, the more nerve wrecking it becomes. But I truly believe that if you are able to make it that far into the interview, you are bound to do a kick ass job at wherever you decide to go.

That is so stressful - the pandemic was really tough on a lot of industries, and especially when your living situation is at risk…very scary! I’m so glad that you love your new job and succeeded against competition! That’s a real testament to your skill!

And you’re totally right. Either way, I made it really far in a very competitive process, so
I feel pretty darn proud of myself. And if it doesn’t work out, I know I’ll have other options out there and even being a part of this process has given me a lot of confidence

I find when people ask really picky questions it's because they want you to get them right - it's like validation of their own choices, if they pick you and you answered the hardest, most unreasonable questions well, it means their choice (you) was a good one.

I went for a group interview once where 20 of us went on site and then to a client meeting - they wanted to see how we would deal with stakeholders.

Then..we all got invited to a second meeting (i.e had to take more time off work) where they clearly stated "we have already decided on two candidates but haven't informed them yet because we want to see how they perform in a group scenario!". Of course, I went. Was too young and daft to do anything else. I'm older and wiser now! (And no, I wasn't one of the pre-chosen candidates).

I think that is horrible. 18 people who aren't getting the job have to take time off of work so the employer can "test" the two they have chosen in a group setting? They should have found another way to do that and honestly, an employer who is so inconsiderate isn't one I'd want to work for!

@Cerulean, it sounds like you gave it your best and at this point there is no reason to stress about it. I hope it turns out well for you but as you say, the process was good for you if you have to seek other opportunities so all would not be lost.

HI:

When you get the job, I'll have some poutine in your honor. Or maybe get you a hallmark card.

cheers--Sharon

Omg YAY @Cerulean ! Congrats! If you don’t mind sharing (and no worries) what field do you work in? A vague answer is fine if you don’t want to share details, I’m just curious after hearing the ordeal for your interviews !

Congratulations!!!! What absolutely fantastic news :appl: :appl::dance:

Congrats, I'm delighted for you, some sparklies are definitely in order.

I don’t mind sharing! I work in tech - this interview was at one of the FAANG companies which stands for Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix and Google

EDIT - i must add, I’d never work at Amazon in a million zillion years

Then that is even MORE impressive, because those companies are very picky on their candidates!!!
Kay…… you need to get a new bling to celebrate yes? ;)

You’re too sweet! That’s probably why it was so beastly! I think the process is similar at all of them

I’ve decided to finally move forward on my e-ring reset!

Congratulations! Definitely celebrations are in order

Congratulations! What an awesome way to start the weekend.
