Another reason to loose weight.
I wonder whether this affects men too.

I'm gonna go swimming today, these articles about weight-related health problems motivates me.

I guess I would be an anomaly, since I am quite hippy but have an excellent (freakishly good) memory. I remember the name of the guy who helped us purchase our duvet 5 years ago - even though I've never seen/spoken to him again. The second week at work my boss asked me if my husband ever got away with anything, because of my mad memory and observance skills

Now, I would be curious to know how this ties in with the SES talk above. Sabine brought up a great point about weight and SES, it is well known that there is a higher % of overweight people in the lower SES group (now before someone pounces on me for saying that not ALL overweight people are lower SES - that is NOT what I am saying - I am talking percentages and yes, it is statistically significant), so being hippy might be correlated somehow with lower SES and thus lower education (and potentially lower memory?).

This must apply to me. I have a goldfish memory AND I'm hippy. Dammit.

Well gosh, no wonder I can't remember a thing!

That's just because they (me!) want to forget that have big hips.

It's my hips? All this time I thought it was the predisposition to Alzheimers and being pregnant. FML....

I can disprove this theory....I have no hips, AND my memory sucks!

Ha! If this was true, I'd have failed every exam I took at law school. ;))

I was going to post a reply but now I can't remember what I was going to say :P Oh well, maybe I'll remember once I lose a few pounds.

Hmmmm... How big is BIG? I have some hips and a butt, but I have an excellent memory.

Thanks goodness, finally an article that deflects attention away from "apple" shaped people! :appl: I keep hearing how bad it is to hold one's weight around the middle, and I will never have a tiny waist, had a little pooch even when I weighed 100 pounds.

Personally I find it hard to believe this article, so many women have larger hips, it's a generalization almost akin to saying "most women are stupid".

It IS interesting though; my mom is an apple shape and overweight, but she does have a very good memory. I have to believe that's a coincidence.

I forget how big my hips are. ::)

I wonder how they advertised for this study? "Big-b..t women invited to participate in a new study... The goal of the study is to measure their IQ?". And further, "study design..." :D
