I haven''t been particularly active on the BWW board because my wedding always seemed so far away...a 2+ year engagement made all my planning seem a little premature.
Two weeks ago, my parents, FI, and I went to Nantucket to start doing some real research. We found the PERFECT venue, but when we started crunching the numbers we got a little depressed. Weddings in general involve spending a lot on one day, and Nantucket weddings seem to inflate the already over-inflated costs.
So, the other night FI and I started thinking about what really mattered to us, and we decided to scale down the guest list and move up the date. A lot. To this Columbus Day weekend.
I''m so excited, but I''m also a little baffled about how to go about planning this with such short notice! We''re only planning on having 14 guests (immediate family and a very few close friends), and the ceremony will be on the beach in Nantucket with dinner to follow at a wonderful restaurant. This way we''ll get the wedding we want, and we''ll have a huge picnic/BBQ next summer for the extended family to get together and celebrate.
So, advice? I figure Saturday is probably impossible for a photographer at this short notice, so would you lean towards Friday or Sunday (assuming we''ll spend Thursday through Monday in Nantucket) for the ceremony? How do I narrow down getting a florist for the few flowers we''ll need? What else am I missing that I''ll need to tackle ASAP?
