I''ve heard about this. When I got my last paycheck before Tax day, the Corporate office of my company sent out a letter with them to explain this. I think it should be explained much better by the IRS, it''s rather confusing, and it could catch people off guard.

Apparently, because of changes in the tax code that happened at the same time as stimulus checks and tax credits, you could wind up owing money. Married couples, for instance (and this is just a model example), might qualify for individual tax credits of $600. per; but the code only provides married couples with $1000. instead of $1200. So you would owe them $200 at tax time. There are other examples provided within the article; that's just the one I remember off the top of my head.
