I don''t mind mushrooms on pizza or in spaghetti sauce sometimes, if they''re small pieces and I don''t have to really feel them in my mouth. But JD likes morels, and I can barely stand to be in the kitchen when they''re soaking. They''re so gross looking they make me want to vomit.

Peppers are right up there with tomatoes and beets on the list of all things evil in the vegetable world.

Beans!!!

Bell peppers.

I will eradicate them. Just you wait...

Them''s fightin'' words.

What''s wrong with bell peppers?

Yep!

I would actually like to make peace with bell peppers. I would like to like them. I have tried. I ate a bell pepper omelet the other day...but I just don''t like them. And my big problem with them is that they are in EVERYTHING!! Hidden...they never tell you on the menu that there will be bell peppers there there they are, 63% of the time (is it weird to keep a logbook??

).

Regarding creamy oatmeal - always use three times more liquid than oats. I usually use 1/3 milk and 2/3 water. So 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup milk, 2/3 cup water. You can mess around with the milk/water ratio. I always add a tbsp honey and some cinnamon too before cooking. Maybe some butter or cream if that ain''t creamy enough. Oh man i love me some oatmeal!

This is how I feel about fresh tomatoes. I love fresh salsa and almost every other type of tomato product, but the thought of biting into a tomato slice makes me gag. I plan to conquer this, however, by slicing them incredibly thin and adding them to hamburgers and other sandwiches. I just haven''t been brave enough to try it yet.

My family used to grow fresh tomatoes. Nothing better back then than taking a fresh tomato out of the garden and eating the *whole thing* with a bit of salt sprinkled on.

I''ve read this entire thread and haven''t seen anything described that I wouldn''t eat. I don''t love brussels sprouts, but I eat them just fine. As for mushrooms, I love them raw, cooked, canned or fresh. As far as I know, I''m the only one who loves mushrooms that much! I think I could totally go vegetarian. As a side note, my mother never made us eat anything. We''d only have trouble if we took more than we could eat, as that was wasteful.

Linda, it''s not the ''taste'' so much as the ''texture''. There are very few things I won''t eat, but when I won''t touch something, it''s usually because of the ''texture''. Like hot oatmeal. Or tapioca. Can''t deal with either.

Holly!!!!!!! You don''t like oatmeal??????? It is so good, with brown sugar and raisins. We cook it in the crock pot and add chopped apples. It is delicious and creamy.

Ok, call me a weirdo, but I love Lima Beans

. I will only eat tomatoes, if I squeeze the icky ''snotty'' like stuff out of the middle.
No, can''t do the oatmeal. But I really only like oats in baked goods. Even oat cereals (Cheerios for instance) make me . . .

I love limas! And, my apologies to Lorelei, tomatoes are my favorite food. Not those pale pink things they serve you in restaurants on your sandwich - - please! Real red vine ripened juicy tart tomatoes; yum! And here in Texas, we turn our tomatoes into that most delectable of condiments - - Salsa!!! I could eat salsa every day. Absolutely.

OK, as long as you just make peace and don't eradicate them, we can call a truce. I have great appreciation for anyone who doesn't like peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms--you guys just leave more for me!

Man, after this thread, I gotta get the grill going today and have some peppers stuffed with Parmesan cheese, onion and tomato and a nice Swiss-mushroom burger (portabellas, of course). MMMMMMMGOOOOOOD!

LOL! You hate beans like I do tomatoes!
Lorelei,

I was just rereading this thread. I think stewed tomatoes at breakfast, which is the custom in England, would not appeal to me, either. There has to be some reason why so many people grow tomatoes in their back yards, however! Fresh tomatoes are very popular. I agree with lyra (and Holly) that a fresh tomato is really different from one that is not "home grown" and I, also, have been able to eat a fresh one whole with just salt. A good one from the back yard can be great!
