I''m one of those people with champagne taste but more of a Kool-Aid budget

I LOVE this Badgley Mischka Gown, Marilyn. (Waaaay out of my price range though.) What I love most about it are the straps. It looks like the girls will have plenty of support but not be overflowing. I also love the sheen and that it has detail, but it''s not overkill. I also love the drop waist/mermaid silhouette.

I was wondering if any PSers have found anything similar in a less expensive line?

I dont want to say the wrong thýng but maybe have ýt copýed? or ýs that taboo?!!

Theýr dresses are gorgeous but they know how to charge for them!!

I know what you mean, with an unlimited budget I would have gotten an AMAZING custom job, sigh.
Anyway, I love that strap detailing and have seen it on a few dresses.

If you budget is really koolaid, this might be your best bet.

http://www.moncheribridals.com/CollectionProductDetail.aspx?cname=Destinations&did=0&pid=502256&year=2008&season=Spring&best=True& I love this dress and my dress comes from another of this company''s collections and the quality is great for the price.

That''s all I have, but its a start

I really love that first one! I actually had the 2nd one bookmarked when we were originally going to get married in Puerto Rico but I''m thinking either might make good 2nd dress options. I might just have to run to Nordstrom and see if they have that 1st one available to try on. Thanks!

Keep your eye on bridepower.com. They often have Badgley gowns. How kool aid is your budget?

hey I found this dress.. its a simone carvalli dress, not identical but its definitely pretty...
style 7061

grrr its keep saying undefined...

David''s Bridal has several pretty mermaid cut dresses, and having straps added would be a pretty simple/cheap alteration, so you may want to check out some of the strapless ones, too. the dress is really pretty!

ok yay it worked

This one isn''t as structed as the BM and has less sparkle, but it still has some sparkle and double straps.

I had this Anne Barge saved on my computer, I am not sure how much cheaper it is, but I think it must be at least somewhat chaper? The staps aren''t exactly the same, but I think it has the same overall style.

I like that one but I browsed the site and found one I like better. http://www.watters.com/product.php?coll=brides&showid=873

Thanks because I had never heard of that line!

I definitely want to spend less than $1500 but less than $1000 would be ideal. And I'm one of those people that will like something more just because I got a good deal so I don't think I'll "have" to have any one dress if it's over my budget.

You''ve never heard of them? Bowl me over with a feather! They are my favorite designer ever. When planning my wedding I lived on their site, still do if I''m honest, but alas, they were outside my price range. When I last checked the styles I was interested in, plain, backless, silk, were about $1000-$1500. I know House of Brides can get them for less expensive if you find one you like.

The Watters dress, retail is supposedly $1,900. House of Brides sells it for $1,330. HOB Watters dress

I''m new to all the wedding stuff so everything is fresh new to me... LOL. Thanks for the HOB link.

You're in luck, Foxy! If you love bargains, most of the couture gowns on bridepower.com (which sells samples) are $1500 or less. They even have a section of 'mega-markdowns' that are couture gowns (up to $7000) that are now less than $500. The trick is to go to the fancy couture salons, try on lots of styles by different designers, and once you know that Anne Barge + mermaid + size 10, say, looks good on you, then you can order from bridepower with some confidence. Plus they take returns (minus shipping though).

Personally, I could REALLY tell the difference between the cheaper gowns and the couture ones, even in the pictures, but especially in the cut and feel, so if you don't mind the idea of a sample or an 'end of line' or pre-owned, think about going that way.

Thanks ladies! I''m not against used or "pre-owned"... lol... so I''ll keep a watch on these websites to see if anything I like pops up.

hey.. just FYI Im almost positive the dress was on Say Yes to the Dress tonight :-).. the bride commented that it she didnt think it was made for someone with an a fairly large chest.. boo... but who knows? it did looks very pretty though

I just saw that too, but I thought she was referring to the dress she tried on in the beginning with the straps in silver and the 'modesty' piece in silver... It lifted her chest up a lot. The dress from this thread was on there too, it was very pretty and very pricey!

ya i was referring to the dress in the thread, she said that she didnt like it because it was not made for a "hippy: or "chesty" person(girl on show said this)... and I just remember the OP that she said she wondered if it would hold up the girls?!?

I''ll have to see if I can catch a replay of the show. It''ll be nice to see the dress on a normal person.
