Bacon!

Tguy and his family think overcooked, crispy bacon is disgusting. I thought it was more an American thing?

I prefer mine chewy. But don't really care for American bacon chewy. I love the way Australians cut bacon, yum!!!

I love a lot of things about America but not your bacon (or eggs). Australian bacon all the way! I bought some bacon recently from the butcher made without nitrates and it was delicious, although I couldn't get the rind crispy like the normal ones.

Slow rendered (by cooking it from a cool/warm pan with a tablespoon of water added as a start) then slowly cooked till perfectly crisp with no burnt bits and a little tiny bit of chewyness in the middle. Yums.

It has to be crispy, I hate when I go out to eat and order something with bacon in it or on it and its chewy and you cannot bite through it.

I like my bacon cold and chewy! And if you feel weird eating cold chewy bacon, wrap it in Swiss cheese so it looks like you're just eating some cheese.

I like my bacon cold and chewy! And if you feel weird eating cold chewy bacon, wrap it in Swiss cheese so it looks like you're just eating some cheese.

I'm not sure what the difference is? Unless it's streaky vs back bacon? You can get both here. The stuff TGal posted is back bacon, and I think what people are calling American bacon is what we'd call streaky bacon? Nothing quite like streaky bacon for crisping up and being delicious, though! Last time I was in the US, I force (forced!) myself to have breakfast at a really great place on the way from my folks' apartment to the DBL office, and the bacon was just sooooo good. With pancakes and syrup and really fluffy eggs. Ah, bacon. Bacon.

Ok. I think I might have been eating too much fruit and salad. Lemme at the bacon....

So, next bacon question - smoked or un-smoked?

That's why you bake it in the oven! Comes out PERFECT, less mess and you can still do it naked

Today is #2 son's birthday and he's requested "breakfast for dinner", he is also our baconator! So DH has bought 3 kinds of bacon for him - 'normal' strip bacon, Canadian peameal bacon (we have an advantage...we're IN Canada LOL!) and apple/maple smoked bacon. They are going to be cooked on the BBQ in a big cast iron pan. DS is going to be in bacon heaven!
