Avatar sizing

How do you size a glamour shot to use as your avatar?

Unlike some other fora I visit, you don't have to shrink it down here.
PS does it for you.
Like any pic you upload, the file size has to be under 1GB or else PS will not accept it.

What you might want to do is crop it so it is square.
If the length and width are NOT the same, PS will stretch it so they are.
That will distort it if it was a long rectangle.
