Trillionaire, I saw your post on the PS weddings thread and thought I would reply with a new thread so we can keep that thread clean.

Dress was purchased at some dress shop at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. It''s obviously not of the best quality but it was silk and I liked the drape of it. It also came rolled up in a fed ex box (store didn''t have my size and shipped one to me...there''s a thread about that around here someplace) and was stained. The neckline was originally a bit higher but I had to alter it to get rid of the stains, which made it much lower than I would have liked, but honestly...I was too lazy to go find another dress.

Hope that answers your question. My wedding was very low key. I didn''t even flowers lined up until 2 weeks prior...a friend''s friend came to the rescue and pulled some stuff together for me. Don''t ask me how I thought flowers were going to "magically appear" at my reception without any help from me.

TGal,

Thank you for starting this thread!

I laughed as you talked about your flowers... I hadn''t even considered them. I kind of want to elope, in the same low-key fashion as your wedding, and then give the fam the option of a reception later. I''m really not a fan of traditional weddings (for ME, I love other peoples!), or of spending a lot of money for a wedding. SO has toooo much school debt to spend money on a big wedding, and I have 2 siblings and want my parents to be able to retire, LOL!

My dream wedding:
*bride and groom
*officiant
*photographer
*2 cupcakes
*bottle of champagne and 2 glasses
*music (maybe spanish guitar)
*just married flip flops

I can only hope I can find such a perfect and affordable dress as yours! How much family did you have participate? I would love to hear more about your day!

I am very torn about having my family there or not. My immediate family is all over the country (KS, NC and MA), extended fam is on the East Coast, my friends are in L.A., and SO''s family is mostly in CA.... so basically a big headache!

That sounds like a great wedding.

I couldn''t get married without family and close friends there (TGuy and I had 25 guests each. My family numbered about 15 and I invited 4 friends and their husbands. That''s it.) There were a lot of people I couldn''t invite, but I was fine with that. I only invited people that I had been friends with a long time and whom I knew speak with for the rest of my life. So far, it is holding true.

To make any wedding a happy one, you have to draw some lines and know you can''t please everyone. My mother is a doll and I was fortunate that she was easy going about my day.

My wedding was just a small beach wedding...nothing special or unique (most weddings are pretty cookie cutter, no matter what the bride would like to think, and mine was no different. Just a little cheaper cookie cutter is all.) The best thing about my wedding is that I got to get married in flip flops. I LOVED that.

I hope you get to have your dream wedding!
