I found this thread from 2010 but I’m wondering if we could make a new one?

My vice: dresses and shoes. I love to dress up!

My son got me a LV purse for Christmas and now I’m always looking for accessories. I would never buy a LV for myself. The money would go to jewels first.

Many.
Because I’m on the spectrum I tend to become obsessed with collecting certain thing and don’t know when to stop.
For me it’s the finding and acquiring that holds most appeal rather than the “owning”. Over the decades I have learnt to modify my tendencies and behaviors.
Collections include Lalique, Clarice Cliff and Wedgwood fairyland Lustre. Also Carlton Ware Rouge and Moonlight Cameo. And I was obsessed with Moorcroft Moonlit blue for years and finally acquired two pieces.
Then there’s the watches, including wristwatches, compacts with watches and small clocks.
And finally Wooden boxes, especially inlaid pieces, favorites include vintage Chinese Puzzle boxes and Asian pieces inlaid with mother of Pearl or paua shell.

I am going to have to google some of these things!

That sounds fun!

Really nothing else even comes close to the bling, but I am never at risk of starving to death so I guess…..food :lickout:

In these days of inflation it is most certainly a big ticket item :lol-2:

Same, same.

I spent a significant portion of my pensions/retirement fund on my custom-converted medium wheel base VW Crafter and on kitchen and other equipment, so that I could go camping with my dog while I am still reasonably fit, physically and mentally to do so.

The other one-off purchases were musical instruments (a good quality wooden clarinet and a better than entry level alto saxophone).

Camping means a lot to me since 2009 and I had spent quite a bit on upgrading my outfit through the years, such as a leisure trailer and cotton canvas tents etc...

Whenever I bought a brand new car, I would add quite a bit of extras such as leather seats, climate control and custom paint job etc..

I spent a fortune equivalent to a brand new car with a good specification in trying to keep my aging car that I had since 2002 on the road in the last 6-7 years of her life.

I had another car in between that old girl that went to car heaven in 2017 and my current car which has a 7-year warranty. I had to get rid of the car in between in order to finance my campervan project.

I like to buy the best I can for kitchen equipment, and had spent a bit of money on catering equipment for my pop up kitchen events.

Not into keeping up with fashion trends. The most expensive items in my wardrobe are probably my custom-made suits and jackets made nearly 20 years ago in early 00s that still fit to this day.

Going out to eat at high end restaurants and to London for theatre trips etc. from time to time would probably be considered as big ticket vices. I am quite happy to sit and eat on my own at a 3-star restaurant, or pay top price for a theatre ticket to go on my own.

Otherwise I live a simple life!

DK :lol-2:

Jewelry, watches (I had a big watch year) and eyeglasses.
On all fronts, I had a big year in 2020 and 2021 and am going to try to cool it for a while and enjoy my collections now.

Here are some pics.

Ugh, I want to live in your house. I will dust and micro position everything, and be happy. I would make a great docent for your collections!

It used to be travelling, we always flew transatlantic first class, but as we’re now based in the US, we won’t be travelling back and forth from the UK. It used to be cruising, but we won’t be doing that anytime soon either, unfortunately.

So at the moment, our big ticket ‘vice’ is a new house, whenever that’s ready, and a new car - way more than we wanted to pay, but it came with a premium because of scarcity, and we needed a car whilst we’re living with DS & DIL. Next week our household contents will finally be on the container ship, then will have to go in to storage, don’t know for how long, or how much it’ll cost. Can’t even think about bling with everything else that’s going on.

The last major purchase was that expensive ass sewing machine...lol But she is earning her keep!

Eventually I will get my earrings, but I don't want them tied to bad memories. Way too many sad things happening around me right now.

Hand made carpets from all over the world. But I ran out of floor space and even with rotating the collection, I still have a closetful wrapped up that have never been or rarely used. I heaved stopped purchasing them but live to view them at auctions and videos on the internet. I even love watching utube videos of very dirty carpets being hand washed, scraped and cleaned while I try to guess type and origin☺️.

Travel has always been where I spent the most of my leisure money. Bling was always second. Covid eliminated the travel but I didn't really change my bling buying habits so the bank account is a bit fuller than usual.

I like handbags but I try to buy them on sale. Not crazy expensive brands but I do like Gucci, Stella McCartney, Valentino and Pucci.
There is a good website called Shop it to me that sends emails with online sales of your chosen brands.

I guess a nice import car is my vice. I'm really into cars (for a gal), I tend to get a new car every 5 years or so...meanwhile my husband gets a new fleet vehicle every 2-3 years so it looks like we are constantly getting new cars! Mine I pay for, his come with the job.

We’re car people. Two of us have four automobiles (2 convertibles)
For me personally, I love boots and jackets and I recently bought a LV crossbody I am enjoying (though I rarely go out except to work lately).
