I am a little bit, not as much as some years. I don't seem to be feeling all that Christmasy yet. I may wrap a few presents this afternoon, maybe that will help get me in the spirit.

yes! I love Christmas music and have been listening for a couple of weeks now! :appl:
The warm weather here is not deterring me one bit. :cheeky:

YES, on PANDORA, yay! :D :wavey: the babies get to jam along. hehe ::) we are singing along to Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer :D

Of course! Have been doing so since early this month. I started earlier this year because I'll be traveling for most of December and won't get my usual dose.

Not by choice yet. The radio does play some here and there though.

It's in the 70's here today so I decided to go read a little on my back porch. Now I just feel like it's spring, lol. It will probably be the last nice day for a while though, so I might as well enjoy it while I can!

I haven't heard any yet but then I have not set foot in a maul for many years.
I don't listen to any radio stations that would be caught dead playing it.

I heard a little of the annual reminder to get out the VISA card at my ophthalmologist's office last week but the moment the nurse walked into the room she volunteered an immediate apology, saying they have no control to what's piped in.
I had said nothing, but apparently many patients must have complained.
I joked with her that the pain of hearing it would take my mind off the pain of having the minor surgery they were about to perform.

Yes!!! Early last week, I found the local radio station that plays Christmas music 24/7 through to Christmas day. That's been on in the car ever since. This morning, another station was playing holiday songs, too. It's 79 degrees here today, so every little thing helps.

KaeKae, XM Sirius has a few channels that has been playing Christmas music nonstop for a couple of weeks now LOL. MY poor dh cannot stand listening to holiday music for 6 weeks before the actual holidays but hey, it's only once a year!

Ummm, yeah, they do. They are paying a fee to have music piped in and they certainly should be able specify the type of music they want...

Maybe every client in the whole 12-story medical office complex gets the same feed.
I don't know.
Just reporting what she told me.

IMHO her volunteering an immediate apology speaks volumes about many people not liking it, especially in public spaces.
What you listen to in your own home/car is your business.

Maybe...luckily people's tastes vary so just wait a minute and there might be something more appealing playing. ;))

Good, bad, right, or wrong, I think in a generation or 2 none of this music will be played in public spaces this time of year.

I was in a mall on Black Friday and I heard some really interesting Christmas music in Aéropostale while shopping for bargains with my great-nephew. (I love Christmas music and since we went in the evening on Black Friday the crowds were not overwhelming. It was not unpleasant!) I thought the 2011 Pricescope Christmas music thread, which has been up for a while, should be linked to this thread, anyway!

This can be applied to many many things. For example I think no one should be able to smoke in public places because it is unhealthy and impacts innocent bystanders who do not wish to have smoke shoved down their lungs. I think holiday music can be annoying to some but has no health ramifications (that we know of LOL). My motto is do whatever you want as long as it doesn't impact me negatively in any way.

If I can NEVER hear it, that would be ideal. lol I HATE christmas music. I hate it.

Perhaps it contributes to some overspending and going into debt to "get in the spirit".
Perhaps some of the music spreads the message of one particular religion, which may not be appreciated by shoppers (especially shoppers with children) not in THAT club.

Enjoy it while you can because I suspect the days of Christmas music in public places are numbered.

I played Christmas music last night when we put our tree and decorations up, that was the first I've heard Christmas music this year.

I didn't know that! DH has XM Sirius in his car, I do not. If I'd only know last night when he drove...I could have 'requested' a song or two. ;) He is like your hubby, and doesn't want to hear holiday music in November, either, but hey, six weeks is just...like...1/10 of the year. LIsten to the regular music the other 90% of the time, okay???? :P

I have always very much resented it when a public institution tried to sneak some religion in a back door and justify it; I believe in the strict separation of Church and State. I think it is one of the important principles upon which the United States was founded.

However, the separation of Church and State does does not mean the abolition of religion from all corners of the civilized world! It does not mean that all places where other than their own homes and churches must remain free of religion lest others be offended! Americans are free to sing religious songs; say religious things; read from the Bible; and congregate in public places other than their own churches to worship...even if it offends others. The right extends to people of all faiths and to atheists who wish to make statements about their belief that there is no God.

I, for one, will be very sad if Christmas music is stifled because some people are, "offended" by it. How bland is the world going to be?

I would also miss some of the music.

I haven't listened to Christmas music yet, but it's still early for me. Give me a week or so and then I'll answer differently.

Too early for me. If I never hear Nutcracker again, it will be too soon. When I worked at Tiffany's they started w/the Christmas music right after T'giving -- on & on & on & on. Nutcracker must have played 20 times a day & we were all so SICK of it! Too bad to ruin good music like that.
