So the Tiffany''s discussion (and inevitable debate) in LIW got me thinking: how many of us are loyal to a certain brand or brands? I think everybody has a few favourites, and I''m curious what those might be for P''scopers.

I have to admit a certain adoration of Longchamps bags. Specifically the foldable canvas bags (I am blanking on the name of the style). I was introduced to them about 5 or 6 years ago, and I love the solid colour, and how they''re basically indestructable. They''re easy to clean, and there are no pockets on the outside. They''re the perfect bag to travel with, because I can loop my hand through the strap and keep my thumb on the zipper and I have to worry less about somebody reaching into my purse. Plus they add a splash of colour to any outfit!

Other than that I''m not particularly brand loyal. I care less where things come from and more about how they work/look.

(Except for Kitchen Aid mixers. I *love* Kitchen Aids, and I can''t wait to have my own. Empire Red stand mixer, here I come!)

Yes, to some extent. For example, I can''t see myself ever switching from Verizon cellphone service as they''ve given me great service over the last however many years. Would I like an iPhone? Heck yeah! But I won''t switch carriers because they''ve been good to me (and I hear bad stories about the other carriers, at least in the area(s) I''ve lived in).

For clothes, I''m very loyal to Banana Republic, but that''s because I know how their stuff fits me and I know the price is around what I''m willing to spend, so it''s laziness more than anything else

Other than that, I don''t think I''m particularly brand loyal. I tend to buy whatever I like at the time or whatever gets the best reviews (if it''s electronics). I''m probably a bit brand loyal when it comes to food shopping, but I work in the food industry, so I base some of that off of which companies I like/admire and which I find to be a bit shady.

Hee, it varies for me. For the most part, I won''t wear or carry anything that has super obvious brand logos. I don''t like to be a walking (yet unpaid) advertisement.

Otherwise, I stick to brands that work well for me, either clothes that fit really well (J. Crew carries tall sizes, is pretty reasonably priced, and pretty good quality), appliances that seem to work for a number of years, a certain brand of soda because I''m used to the taste, etc.

Certain things: hair stuff, skincare, underwear, food, alcohol...

Clothes, no, whatever looks good. Bags, no. Shoes, no (except for sneakers - love NB). Jewelry, no. Furniture, no.

Nope. The closest I get is Steve Madden and OXO. And I wouldn''t call myself brand loyal to them at all.

no. as a consumer, i will give my business to those people who give me exactly what i''m looking for. some brands tend to do that more than others, so i might stay with them - but that''s not brand loyalty, that''s just shopping.

i certainly have brand laziness - a somewhat different thing - but again, that''s only because the company i''m buying from is giving me what i want. when that stops, i''ll look elsewhere immediately.

when it comes to shopping, i''m a consumer, not a friend.

I can''t think of one thing I''m brand loyal about.

Oh wait. Yes I can. Cars. I''m a Honda girl.

And my foundation, I use Bare Minerals.

Everything else changes depending on my mood and budget at the time.

Oh I am definitely brand loyal to KitchenAid mixers, thats why I have two of them.....

Apart from that, not so much except for my good handbags and scarves, perfume - as long as I love the fragrance I use many brands. Certain food products I will buy some brands but I don't always seek out a specific brand for the most part, as long as I consider the item of good quality thats good enough.

Me too! Me too! I''m thinking of getting Mini Cooper as my next car (because if you can''t get a sporty fun car when you''re in your 20s, when can you?) but it honestly scares the cr*p out of me to think about getting something other than a Honda. Like I''m afraid it''s going to break down the second I drive it off the lot

I might chicken out yet and get my third Civic

Does it make me brand loyal if I''ve driven the same car (Honda) for 8 years?

Whitby, I like the "brand lazy" idea. That''s probably a better description of my love for Longchamps. If I found a bag that fit the same criteria for less money, I''d be all over it! So I guess it''s the product, not the brand, that I love. I sure as heck wouldn''t spend money there if they didn''t have exactly what I wanted.

But Kitchen Aids...well, I just love them. I love the colours and the way they feel and the way they look and all of the attachments and gizmos...so even if I found a similar product for less $$, or something that was better, I would probably ignore it and still go for the Kitchen Aid.

Double post.

I''m with Elle on Bare Escentuals. That''s about it. I have no problem buying clothes at any place that has styles I like.

I am not brand loyal AT ALL. I buy whatever I get the best price on. Are there some brands I like better than others? Absolutely. Will I pay a premium price for them if an alternative is available at a great deal and will work? Generally not- I''ll buy the alternative to tide me over until the one I like better goes on sale.

Yeah, I''m addicted to my Civic. I don''t think I''d ever buy anything else!

Go for the 3rd Civic!! Minis are adorable though!

LOL. Hehe.

I can neither confirm nor deny, however, the fact that your Honda has lasted so long probably will make you loyal enough to buy another one when the time comes!

Nope, like whitby, I''m only brand loyal as long as the company keeps producing the quality of merchandise that brought me to them in the first place.

For instance, I only run in Asics shoes. They fit my feet perfectly and really stand up to the wear I put them through--in all my years of selling sporting goods, I think I only had one pair returned that was a manufacturer defect. However, if the quality or fit changes in the future, I have no problem switching.

It still only has 53,000 original miles on it.

So it had better last a while yet.

DON''T DO IT!!!! There''s a study out just today that ranks Mini as the worst in customer satisfaction ... with 165 problems for every 100 cars.

For some reason I can''t link but its on Yahoo''s homepage right now.

Yes, I am actually very brand loyal from my shower gels to my shoes. If I have a positive experience with a product or store I will stick with it, but if I have a negative experience I won''t usually buy from them again.

I LOVE Longchamp bags...especially the Pliage bags (I think those are the ones you''re referring to Princess). They''re so versatile and light, and incredibly tough. Mine have lasted through many Boston and Chicago winters....

I''m pretty brand loyal to a few brands. For instance, love those Longchamps. I''m a big fan of Ugg boots, because they keep my feet warm like nothing other. And I love Apple products. I am NOT brand loyal when it comes to jewelry for sure....except maybe loyal to Barry now for my colored stones
3.gif
And I''m very loyal to Cover Girl for eye-liner...but it''s because that is the ONLY eyeliner that works with my eyes!

Only with diapers--they have to be Pampers! Other than that, I''m not that loyal.

Am I brand loyal if I''m devoted to buying the generic version of anything that''s available, as long as it is comparable?

Oh, wait--I am very loyal to Sabinas tortilla chips. They''re the only chips I''ll buy. They are delicious, and all-natural.

And I''m currently driving my first Honda, but DH and I were just talking about how we don''t think we can ever drive anything else after having our Civics. We love them!

I''d say I''m more quality loyal than brand loyal--I want something that is going to be top quality, regardless of brand. That means that I don''t always go with the most popular brand, but the one that I feel will offer me the most bang for my buck (even if it is just as expensive or even more expensive than the popular brand).

I''m brand loyal to things that work or fit well. So toiletries, cleaning products, clothing, etc. I don''t buy accessories for the labels.

Via Spiga shoes and ABS dresses, because both of those companies seem to cut for my measurements - is that brand loyalty, or practicality?

I love Kiehls.
I love Diane von Furstenberg and Calvin Klein dresses
Calvin Klein bras and panties (if I can find the bigger bra sizes. difficult, but worth it. Always CK undies though. So comfy).

Wellness for my cats.
Yves for vegetarian meat substitutes. :-)

I am brand loyal about some things, but not about others.

For examples, I only buy Pampers brand, Tide and Downy. I won''t use any other detergent/fabric softener. I love Hondas, so I am sure my next car will be one. I like Gerber baby food and Huggies baby wipes. I like Dove deodorant and Johnson''s baby wash and lotion. I like Lysol and Clorox..

I won''t buy another brand of any of those even if they don''t have it in stock at the supermarket, I will just drive to another one until I find it.

But, I am not picky about bags, I love all kinds, from LV to Kooba to no name brands.

And I am not picky about makeup and will buy all the different brands out there from Lancome to Maybelline.

I am not picky about clothes or shoes either, except for underwear, I like Victoria''s Secret bras and panties. The fit me well and last for a while...

This is exactly how I shop, too (well, except replace "J. Crew" with "New York and Company" and "tall sizes" with "big ole booty sizes" and we''re good to go)...in my experience, I have found that when a specific brand gets a lot of hype, it''s usually more costly than it is worth it. I have no regrets that my FI didn''t pay an additional $10,000 for my engagement ring just for it to come in an aqua box (no offense intended to the Tiffany junkies!)...on the other hand, I wouldn''t mind a pair of stilettos with red soles (I''ll just never be able to afford them!).

running shoes, I''m pretty brand loyal to Nike''s. Simply for the fact that they run narrow, and I haven''t really had an issue w/ blisters in these shoes. I used to be brand loyal to NB, but I found they fit to inconsistantly, and also w/ aididas, for their trail shoe... but I haven''t like their styles in the past 5+ years.

bottled water - aquafina. the rest is swill.
