MMMMMmmmmmMAC! And *my* hubs is in IT too so its no excuse!

We have macs galore around here because for a while he could get slightly used ones for cheap from his old employer. I''m not big on the Ipod dealie (don''t listen to portable music enough) or Iphone (the Pre is fine w/me) -- but for *computers* I''ll never go back!

I''ve always had great service from Apple ... TERRIBLE service for my old Dell ... TERRIBLE service for HP printers ... but aces from Apple!

PC (I am a fan of MAC makeup though. . .guess that's not what you're talking about.

PC. I have a laptop with Vista.

I love my mac (MacBook). Had it for about 4 years (though I dread replacing it when the time comes, it will be about a grand

).

I can't speak to the customer service issue because (knock on wood) I haven't had to use it yet. I will... and it will be the moment my warranty runs out at the end of the month, I'm sure!

Im a dual boot PC running linux and xp.

I hate my Mac.

I am a Mac.

We currently have three Mac laptops and one iMac in the house. One of the laptops is old and I just need to transfer some files off of it before we can get rid of it, and the iMac was my grandmother''s and I couldn''t bear to let it go after she died. Now I''m ready to let that go, too.

DH was a PC when we first met. I converted him.

I''ve had Macs my entire life. My mom is a technology teacher, and she used to be a desktop publisher, so she''s always used Macs, which is why I''ve always used them.

Mmmmmmmmmac. I inherited one about 3 and a half years ago when my PC broke for about the zillionth time. I didn''t know anything about macs at the time, just needed a computer and a mac was available. It has never so much as frozen on me. Barring some drastic apple meltdown, I will never go back. Everything is so easy on a mac, it just works. I am also in love with my iPhone.
Heard some bad stories about their customer care though!

Another vote for Mac. I run a G5 at work and another at home and I have an Mac XServe at work... I don''t know that I''d go with a Mac server again, but in their defense, it was their first gen...
I do not have an iPhone however... I went with the Droid and LOVE it.

rhb - what software are you using for your photo editing? That may help!

Mac all the way! Always have been. My husband is in IT, and he is a Mac too! He loves going to WWDC (Mac developers conference)

I''m mac, he''s pc
I need a pc desktop though so I can get some work done at home

Mac!

I used to sell Macs when I got out of college, but then I got into software development and now I''m PC all the way. Hubby, SIL and BIL are all in IT as well and they''re all PC users. I will say that the company I work for is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner so they would probably fire anyone who showed up to work with a Mac. Even iPhones are frowned upon.

Of course I do have one of those and love it (just have to hide it at company meetings). My DH bought a minimac out of curiosity. He thought it would be a good computer for me when we were dating and I would surf the web at his house. We both hated it. That poor minimac... there were a lot of swear words thrown it''s way. I think it''s much happier with it''s new owner (DH''s dad)!

We are macs all the way. I''ve never seen Pricescope on a pc, so have no idea how it would differ in posting. Macs are just so much faster and intuitive. I hate the old clunky ugly PCs at school, full of popups, slow, and no point besides word processing. If you are the least bit creative a mac will meet your expressive needs. I am interested in those minis, the pc laptops that cost nothing, but I figure you get what you pay for...

Oh, and applecare is the greatest! they replaced my drive when I was in a train accident (clearly not a warrantied issue) and my screen when a student having an episode hit it. Also not their responsibility, but they sent me home with a like-new computer. I have had no complaints with mac service at all. My friends with PCs keep talking about having to wait on the phone for hours to talk to someone and hope that they understand their accent. The mac geniuses at my mall are always there with answers.

CorelDRAW and subsequent programs. It wasn't the programs itself but the refresh rate that was driving me nuts - as these are very good, darn expensive editing and rendering programs. But using RAW format photos the refresh rate on movement, render, masks and whatnot was slow........... prob more to do with the need for a processor upgrade than switch to a mac. lol I've always been happier w/ PCs, but wondered if a Mac would better suit graphics editing.

Dang! You guys are MacFreaks!

I myself am a PC! The ONLY reason I would EVER consider a mac is because of it''s look...that''s IT. That''s not a good enough reason though, so...

My FI wants to get an iMac or whatever for our house. That''s fine. I just got a netbook for my birthday and he has a Toshiba laptop. He''s a PC, but just wants the mac cause it looks good too. tsk tsk.

I have an iPhone which I got reluctantly. I like it, but...I hate falling into the Apple iDomniated world! bleh.

I''ve had nothing but stellar service with my Mac as well... Same with everyone I know..

I''ve had more problems with PC''s that one should have, so I''m glad to be done with that headache.

growing up with a dad who was (and still is) an IT pro, i only knew PCs. after years of re-built/hand-me down notebooks and PCs, i converted to a new 24-inch iMac almost 2 years ago and i''ve never looked back! i love it along with my iPhone...i just don''t function properly without them.

Mac all the way! I''ve never had anything less than stellar service from them, and I''ve been thrilled with every product I have from Apple. It can get hectic trying to get an appointment at the Genius Bar, but they''ve been great to me. When I bought my laptop in April (my second - my Powerbook lasted 5 years without a problem, no viruses, no costly updates, no trips to the Geek Squad), they worked with me to get me a good deal, and when there was a miscommunication between me, the store, and the credit card company they worked to make sure I got the best option (12 months interest free - paid off in 6).

So yeah, I''m a rabid Mac fan. BF is a Mac guy, too, so luckily I don''t have to try to convert him.

Re: viruses...

would it be the case that the more popular mac becomes, there will be viruses as they are coded for macs?

I wouldn''t be surprised if more come out. There are viruses developed, but I think even as popular as Macs are, they''re not that affordable. Really only a small subset of computer users can/are willing to shell out more upfront for the Mac pricetag, so hackers get more out of coding for PCs. Were the cost of Macs to come down so they really boomed across a larger demographic, I could see it happening.

I think Macs are cool, but far too trendy and overhyped. I've had just as many problems with my iPod and iTunes software as I've had with my Windows computer, so I have to say I'm not impressed. I would get an iPhone if it became available through Verizon, but I honestly feel like it's a much better product than other smart phones out there. I don't honestly feel like Mac computers are a much better product than PCs.

So I'm a PC girl.

ETA: DH works for a major computer hardware company making chips. We will always get computers with his chips in them and Mac doesn't fall into that catagory.

I''m a PC but I have a Mac

Interesting - tons of Mac lovers!

Dell has really upped the ante on their customer service in the last couple of years. It's easily in my top 5 places to shop just for the good customer service, now

I'm in IT and there are a lot of programmes that just won't work or won't work without an awful lot of unnecessary wiggling on my part, so a Mac is not in the books for me. FI's brother swears by them though, they do seem to be more robust and are definitely less prone to infections.

PC at work. MacBook at home.

I did like posting on PS better when we had a PC laptop. I hate typing all the HTML codes when I post to make things bold or italicized.

I watch my FI on a PC and it''s always running so slow and freezing up on him. That''s when I really love my Mac.

I am guessing so.. but since most people DO have PC''s it''s more .. lucrative to code them for pc''s... I really wonder if it''s harder to code them for one vs. the other as well??

[However,] Macs can run windows... so... do those ones get more viruses then?? I have no idea!!

PC, definitely. I used to have an iMac but replaced it with a PC (laptop). We have iMacs at work (they''re donated to us), and I can''t get used to using them anymore. I''ve come close to buying a MacBook but I couldn''t justify the price.

MAC!
